The trail that goes right along Roaring Run itself might be a bit hazardous, but the ones just beyond that would be good.
If you want some nice long trail runs, I'd suggest getting a decent map of the relevant sections of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. They take up a good portion of the land in that part of the state (just a bit in Botetourt County, but much more so in Craig and Alleghany Counties, I believe). There are lots of logging roads randomly scattered around, too.
One thing that you may not have thought about: Do be careful about being in the woods during hunting season. I am from this area, and I know more than one person who has been mistakenly shot. Blaze orange is your friend.
