for all you sarcastic, arrogant geniuses out there, take a look at the splits. half the ncaa field the other day came through 5k over 16 mins, or something like that.solinsky got 73rd, and ran 32:15...which is two 16:08 5k's. yes he had a bad day, but he still beat a whole lot of people. the tail end of the field came through in 17:28, 15:28. yes it was a slow course with mud and all that, but foot locker is slow as well. the top 7 high school runners in the country would fair much, much better than you people are giving them credit for. webb finished 11th as a freshman, and just a year earlier had gotten the shit kicked out of him by ritz...withrow, rupp, mcdougal, kiptoo, and true, the top five guys from 2003, would have done quite well at nats, i'd be willing to bet you would have at least three in the top 50. and take into consideration that rupp and mcdougal are the only ones that have been running close to their potential as of late, true seemed to have an off day at nats (although he did win heps i believe) and withrow and kiptoo were off their game as well...but, still, very, very talented class, as high school seniors they would have done well at ncaa's.
as far as this year goes? well, forys, tebo, centrowitz, taye, grunewald, murdock, jager? i can see forys going top 40 at least, with a few others top 100.
the ncaa is good, damn good, but this isn't god damn kenya where everyone in the country is running sub 5 minute pace through 5k in every 10k...give me a break.
