he does it again....damn hes good!
Good performance from Harvard.
Why such slow times this year at VCP? Was the course muddy? Can someone who was there explain?
I'm not sure why the race was slower. The weather was beautiful. It didn't seem muddy, but I didn't race so maybe in those back woods...
Where are the Saretesky Sucks threads now? What a turnaround in two weeks.

Harvard...what the $@%&! How about the 'Cuse!
They had a 35 second split!
I ran in the women's race. The course wasnt muddy at all. It was a beautiful day, I think overall the weather changes effected peoples performances. Although it was only around 63 degrees, it felt a lot warmer.
good amount of wind for the mens race on the field.. which is about 4 miles of the race.
celeriter yor right on the mark the 'cuse had all 7 in the top 60, 5 in the top 30 thats some depth.
way to run when you have to run. now the question is do the orange get the respect they deserve and get an at large bid or do they get passed over because minnesots stunk it up in their region(6th) and the committe will pick 3 soso teams just to get the golden blowphers in?
Does someone need to come to Syracuse and explain the at-large point system?
Who has Syracuse beaten this season who is good? Nova? Give me a break.
'Cuse had a great race at the northeast regional, but 3rd place w/o any at large points isn't going to get you anywhere. It doesn't matter if they "deserve" to go based on how they ran, if you don't have POINTS you don't go!
While Minnesota may have crapped out at regionals, they performances early in the season indicate that they are a very good team (and they have at large points all over the place). But they won't be pushing anyone in from that region. Look for nine... I'll pause for emphasis here... NINE... to go from the west.
So I'd direct your complaints elsewhere.
Mcstudmuffin help me out here....i'm not from syracuse but i am from the northeast and new to collge cross country, and i am trying to figure out the at large points system. i know who beat and when you beat them plays into the equation. is there something else that goes into deciding what teams advance? i would have thought if you peak at your regional meet it would carry more weight than results achieved earlier in the season. I realize syracuse's early season result are considered weak, but looking at the big east results they were beaten by 4 national ranked teams.. notre dame, louisville, providence, georgetown and at regionals the lose to iona and providence( second time) two top 15 teams.
With PC and Iona just cruising to get the auto and not interested in hammering, everyone keys off them and runs slow. There was 50-60 guys all bunched up after 2500m and no one wanted to take the pace. The pace seemed to pick up on the second lap when Moe Khadraoui went tomthe front but noone went after fagan. It got pretty hot out there and this seemed to take its toll. Seems like the guyd who were racing for the individul spots just keyed off the Iona and PC guys. Weird race!

The key here is BEATEN, not beat.
It doesn't matter who you lose to even if you only lose by a few points to a very well ranked team.
Syracuse did not beat anyone this season. They ran ok against well ranked teams (providence and iona today for example) but the at large system only awards points on victories over teams that get into the meet by autoing.
Like I said, if you don't have any points, you're not going. Even though syracuse had a good day today, they had no factual evidence (points) that they deserved to go to nats.
And while Syracuse was only beaten by ranked teams at Big East, they had almost twice as many points as 4th place Louisville (something like 78 to 144). That's not that great... and 3rd place today at the Northeast meet was hardly a monumental feat considering how badly some good teams ran.
Usually, only 2 mens teams go to NCs from the NE. And they are IC and PC. One year -2001- IC redshirted their studs and D'mouth went. The Ivy teams usually come in 3 - 5, but never seem to have enough points. Thats life in the NE. 'cuse ran against teams w/ points at Big East. Maybe they could have picked up some points by running well at Griak or Pre-Nats.
Not so fast my friend... wrote:

you dont really know what you are talking about, so stop yourself now before looking more of an idiot.
Well I prefaced my comments w/ "usually".
Looks like only 2 NE teams went last year. 2000 was the last year that three NE teams went.
You guys at Dartmouth had a great season. Esp. when you returned 5 of 7 from last year's team.
hey mcstud...i understand the Jenny Craig/Weight Watcher/At-Large points system...the previous rhetoric
was more about gaining respect than getting a hand-out for
