Can we stop pretending 40 is old? Dudes are running 2:04 or faster at this age now.
Average Joe hobbyjogger: Please please please tell us how close you can run to your PRs at 40, we'd love to hear how good of shape you've kept yourself in (Like those pros/all time talents like Kenny B).
You are all delusional. Who the hell dopes to run 7:00 pace. like the other half of you have said, that's not very hard or impressive. Nobody on this site knows anything about anything and your perception of the world is funny as hell.
You think Lance got ball cancer naturally? lmao.
Are you at all familiar with the Masters circuit? Grey haired folks will do anything for a pb and a medal.
If an alien's only knowledge of human society was letsrun forums, it would conclude that the average American hobby jogger could break 17 their local turkey trot
Yes, impressive. He’s also an MMA fighter and possesses visible abs to show off. Not bad for a billionaire hundred+ times over running a trillion dollar company.
He's also got some serious gyno. Doping your way to an average physique and 5k time is pretty sad.
There's one dude that's done it twice. Doesn't count as "dudes".
Kipchoge and Bekele. I personally don't believe Kipchoge's age is accurate.
Let's move the needle though - there are 40 olds running sub 2:30 for the marathon.
My point still stands - 40 is not old. 21 minutes is not fast.
I am 42 years old, work 40+ hr/week job, take 3 kids to school and activities, etc. That’s about what I run the last 3 miles of my 8-10 mile easy runs in. Sure, it’s better than what most sedentary and overweight 40 year olds could do. But compared to club-level masters runners it’s not very impressive at all. I can still break 16 and I’m not even the fastest on my club. We have a guy who is early 50’s that can still just about break 17, and guys in their 70’s who would be close to beating Zuckerberg.

yeah but you’re a runner. he is not. he primarily trains for mma and staying generally healthy to run with his kids. i didn’t know many dads of my friends in middle school/highschool that broke into the 20s while maintaining a intensive work life.
