That isn't rue. She can have all the sponsors she wants. She just can't race with their logo but that doesn't matter. Do you have any idea how much Nationwide payed Peyton Manning? It was at least $15 million but I never saw him stick their logo on the side of his helmet.
Some how I feel like this is only one half of the story. It is strange in running people don't have more sponsors like in cycling displayed on race singlets. I'm not sure if most "shoe" deals prohibit additional sponsors to be displayed?
Yes, when you get organizer's pre or post-race T you get all the crap sponsor longs on them. No regulations how many sponsors a race/organization can have, but of course an athlete needs to be subjected to some silly rules.
SO true..I think her current agent's initials are EM.
But to be fair she makes way more on social media than probably any other british runner.
If you follow her Instagram account she must have had what 30 to 50 sponsors in the last 5 years. I'm not sure she isn't just getting more publicity for her sponsor. Notice as well she ran that 10,000 without that logo.
These rules are well known and have been the same at London for decades. They are strictly enforced. Your kit is checked and the logo sizes are measured. She will be allowed 1 logo (ASICS) and not any additional logo.
Nothing new and nothing specific to Elish.
Whether or not these rules are a good thing is another matter. .
That's the dumbest rule and is part of the sport killing itself. So if Wout Van Alert wanted to run, he couldn't have both Jumbo and Visma on his shirt. It's basically saying runners can't have more than one big sponsor.
Funny you use Van Aert has an example because he also has his own sponsorship with Red Bull. Only guy on Jumbo to wear the Red Bull cycling helmet. Shame that the old doofuses still control track and field with these phony ideas that athletes promoting things and making money are evil.
Uhhhh... Do you really believe this is about a sports drink logo? Come on! Her instagram post talks mostly of her being injured and struggling to get ready for London. Clearly, she's hurt and couldn't compete (or compete at a high level) and didn't want to get waxed by Hassan. The drink logo excuse is total bullsh^t. I'm sure there was some appearance fee issues as well. This was supposed to be Elish's marathon coming out party, and Hassan stole the show.

It might matter to the brand doing the sponsoring.

So if these are the rules then how do NN Running Team runners get away with an NN Running Logo on their singlets and a GIANT Ineos logo on their shorts/tights in addition to the standard Nike logo?
If it’s a “well known rule” that is “strictly enforced” then how do they get by and others don’t? Shouldn’t they also only be allowed one logo?

From a NY TImes article about Lauren Fleshman at her marathon debut in NY:
In the waiting area before the start, Fleshman was approached by a race official. She was wearing three temporary body tattoos advertising her Picky Bars. This was a violation of international running rules, and the tattoos had to be removed with rubbing alcohol, costing her some warm-up time. “It’s crazy you don’t own your own skin,” she said later.

Best response.
Jumbo, Red Bull etc etc on cycling and F1 are there because money changes hands. Do they seriously think F1 doesn't charge others for the advertising they get , really??

I said "big sponsor", not "sponsor" for a reason. Yeah, runners can have as many sponsors as they want, but how many sponsors want to sponsor a runner who already has the only spot on the uniform reserved? It really leaves room for only one big sponsor, and limits those big sponsors to shoe and apparel companies. I welcome you to point out the exceptions to this in the running world to prove my point (I'll start: Hansens-Brooks).
Limits on sponsors allowed on the uniform are remnants from the amateur era of sport, and the organizers caring about themselves more than the athletes. In Worlds and Olympic events, where this fake amateurism is most evident, I get that Nike (who essentially bought the USATF) provides the national team jersey to Americans, for example, and get to steal that one spot on the top. But the London marathon isn't an event with athletes competing for their nations.

very good point. And I presume the answer is because it is part of the name of a team.
I presume they have got around it via some technicality of that nature.
