Will it be more difficult than he realizes due to the level of rising competition and the scheduling/exhaustion of Olympic heats?
He looked super strong and almost won today. He was injured and currently he's gotten to a level where his "shakeout" performance is a 3:45 mile. I'm betting on him.
The 5000m is in his hands basically. It's really the 1500m that will be the most difficult and honestly I don't know. He said in another interview that in some ways this season opener is better than previous years (3:45 is about a 3:28 1500m). At the same time though, Kerr beat him and will likely keep on improving unless he peaked for this more than he should have, like jakob thinks, who knows.
Arrogance.
Never saw someone of the Greats saying things like this.
Kerr just ran a massive PB to beat Jakob who was two seconds off his, obviously in an opener (which is insane to me). I think Jakob has a higher ceiling for improvement from where they both finished today. I have a feeling sub 3:43 could be in the cards for Jakob in a month or so.
What was the point of linking this video? He was only a teenager then in this race lol.
Jacob will eat Kerr's lunch in Paris.
Peak form Kerr barley squeaked out a win today vs. Jacob who was just airing out his legs after a long injury ridden hiatus.
I feel that Kerr is likely much sharper at this point than Ingebrigtsen. We know that JI’s buildup was hampered by injury.
To recall his arrogance.
You're an idiot
Neither will win gold in Paris. Mark this post.
Barega was teenager at that time too with 12:43 in the legs but wasn't that arrogant.
Things change with the time and none is "granted" to be God eternally.
How about if this is the beginning of his decrease?

Eh, just remember he was personally paced to that time. I can’t believe the cognitive dissonance going on here.

Man what are you guys on, Kerr just beat Jakob leading. He beat Jakob at his own game.
Kerr has had 40% more training volume/days etc. to this point and Jacob was gaining on him in last 20.
Come Paris Jacob will only be down by 10% on training volume and it's game over.
I will take any Kerr vs. Jacob bet. Put your money where your mouth is.
i think the 1500m is too competitive in 2024 for anyone to win the 1500-5km double. I think jakob would have a good chance to win 1500m if he focused on it. But, i will go for Kerr if he does the norwegian does the double.
Also think others could win, like Wightman
Happy to be proven wrong, as winning the double will be a great feat this year.

For a 1500/5000 runner, focusing on one, is focusing on the other. The 1500m is first, and he can physically, and mentally, give it all it all he’s got.
They some fanboys up in here. If Kerr soloes a 3:25 in Paris from the gun, yall are still gonna make excuses.

Lolz, and what is his plan to win the 1500?
