From what I remember he did a race predictor workout that went badly and quickly started talking about shorter training/races in subsequent videos.
I really do wish him well but it feels like he's in a place where he needs a quick win and isn't getting it.
His training with his dad to get a sub 8 3K seemed to be getting him some improvements without doing anything earth shattering but instead of sticking with it and taking a series of smaller wins he keeps pivoting to and abandoning new plans at the first evidence it hasn't solved all his problems.
He's now gone from focusing on the short stuff to running half marathons for the lolz and if it gets views he'll probably start making videos for the click bait thumbnail.
Why should he get a "proper job?" Why does he need to follow some sort of path that you deem acceptable? What a weird thing to care about.
If he wants to hang on to Allie he better be able to provide a home long term.
I don't think he needs to worry unless she were to suddenly grow up herself, which doesn't seem to be in the cards anytime soon. Any normal 26 year old woman wouldn't give him the time of day, he's just so embarrassingly childish, but I think they fuel each other's 12 year old demeanor perfectly. Neither seem to want to grow and each one acting like a child legitimizes the other acting like a child, allowing them to continue on quite happily. It would be hell on earth for me, but to each their own. Interesting to see if they can continue to act that way into their 30's, although from the outside it will become more and more tragic over time. But, if they are happy and can make a living, all good I guess.
Long time fan. I like the guy, I enjoy his content and I say good for you pursuing your dreams/goals. A 9-5 office job can wait. He was right to try and make it with the Beasts and when that didn’t work out I loved how well he ran while his Dad coached. Fastest he’s been and I admire his serious running.
But lately you’re losing me. The sub 14 minutes project was abandoned because you’re closing around, that 4 x 1K workout a few weeks was embarrassing compared to your fitness levels under you Dad.
I like Spencer but this latest Mario video was downright terrible. I used to follow Nick Symmonds but his videos got so bad I unsubscribed a very long time ago. It appears AS is heading in that direction.
It’s odd that Allie signed with NNormal as their whole aesthetic doesn’t really line up with this. I get it’s not her but the trails and vibe and sustainability and everything else that is aligned with that brand and lifestyle doesn’t seem to mesh with click bait view chasing, eating trash, scared of racing and committing to anything Spencer…
What about Klau for lowering his standards to play along w/ this?
Let’s be honest, AS is living off of his gf…. He lives in HER home… she’s the one w a income more so than just YouTube content. Spencer hasn’t nor has any plans to race despite what he says…
same dude that wore a Santa suit in a pacer test a couple months ago.
I don’t understand why he doesn’t train w a local group in Seattle. Heck…. He does mike repeAts at 5:30, I don’t see why he doesn’t train w his GF.

you mean the guy who 'coaches' TAS, burns himself out every 2-3months, constantly makes immature 15yo type jokes and also avoids getting a real job just to keep calling himself a 'pro'?
I appreciate Spencer's sense of humor, but if he wants to get serious about pursuing some running goals, he needs to work with a coach and a training group outside of his friends to give him some structure and accountability. He could train for the Olympic Trials next year in the 1500 or 5000 as a blue-collar runner, and it would make for some compelling videos. I'm surprised he hasn't connected with Club NW or another group in the Seattle area.

yeah, muuuuucccchhhhh better quality content...
I'll stand by that Ari's usual videos are quality. Sure he tends to burn himself out but I think that aligns way better with "chasing the dream" than Spencer's approach. Also Ari had a real job and quit to pursue triathlon, plus he actually pursues other side hustles like making music. Ultimately I think Ari is someone who is genuinely documenting their journey to try and become a professional endurance athlete while Spencer may claim to be doing the same but is actually just making running content for the kiddies.
It looks like his professional running gig is about over. He just doesn't know it yet. Now he just wants to get enough subscribers so that he can get better ad revenue so he can continue being a content creator.
His profession running gig was over the moment he made some video about legal drug abuse in American track and field, thinking he’s some wizard for parroting common known facts in the community for years.
Brown is a casual athlete now just running for fitness. I’ve never been interested in those kinds of channels and you guys don’t have to force yourself to watch him. He’s shown to flip flop training, ditch meets, make excuses about training, make excuses about races, I think he himself knows it now. Honestly there’s nothing more to say about this guy anymore , don’t know why y’all make multiple threads about him.

Says the guy who posted not once but TWICE in the space of ten minutes contributing to this discussion and thread.
Anyone who chases the running dream after college hits a point like this...were you lose your fire. You still train and do sessions but the fire is gone. That drive that allows you to push super hard starts to diminish. That drive that makes you run 8 x 1k at 2:50 or do a 8 mile tempo at 5:10 pace.
AS is at this point.
The last year of training you know it's the last year. I was still hitting 100 miles a week (down from 130-50) but the fire was gone. I stopped running completely and got a job in Finance and made $$$.
