Bump, anyone got news?
f no. they can't even effectively deal with the Russians.
No, I think whatever they decided they have to commiserate with lawyers and risk management to make sure they say the right things in a press release. So, they probably needed all day and who knows, maybe even longer to publish.
This tells me that they hadn't made a decision going into the meeting, otherwise they would have had all that in place. You know, press release, pre-written, pre-vetted. And if so, AK or someone would have said something. I think there was negotiating and begging going on and maybe possibly, still haven't formally decided what to do.
I call no suspension and serious warning with 10 step plan with deadlines and fines if not met.
Maybe waiting for Nike to up their offer by another 15%?
I think its a two day meeting 29-30 November in Rome. Might still be going on.
I disagree. The military uses group punishments very well to make sure the good actors confront and eliminate the bad actors. Banning the entire country ensures that those who are not cheaters and dopers stand up to those who are instead of passively approving it which is what has been happening.
It wasn't a pragmatic solution. You ban Kenya and you might as well close the Athletics shop.Kenya supplies Athletes to most European countries and the USA teams respectively. Kenya supplies athletes to NCAA and the Japanese motor industry Athletics teams and series.Kenya supplies athletes to the Asian and Middle East national teams. You ban Kenya then you might as well close shop.
Many countries have their training bases in Kenya.
The solution is serious crackdowns, heavy fines and jailing people. That will make a difference .No point wasting time with banning people for 4 years because they just come back and resume from where they left.Send them to jail for 5 years.
Well that's terrible news. It seems like there's no change either, except that the Kenyan government has promised $5 million for anti-doping measures. That's a drop in the ocean to what Kenya probably has earned from athletics boosting their worldwide profile. Built on rampant doping which they ignored completely for decades until Coe effectively put a gun to their heads. El K should hang his head in shame at all the hate he has directed to Coe, who is obviously the biggest fan of Kenyan running in the world.
Disgraceful. Their rampant cheating and corruption has ruined the sport. Every Kenyan pro runner is doping.
Reading this is like watching Gerardo Rivera opening Al Capone's vault. Or like unwrapping a Big Mac and finding lettuce, tomato, and onion, but no meat. Where is the beef?
Kenya must support Ukraine vs. Russia in exchange for not being banned for drug use is my guess
Also:
It is impossible to take the sport seriously and the sport will never clean up. A conveyor belt of East African runners will dope to win major races given how high the rewards are compared to the risks, and the handful of apologists on here will pretend to care. And it will continue to drag down the entire sport. You have to dope just to be competitive.
Do you think Coe ran 1:41 clean?
Snell ran the equivalent of 1:41 on grass before blood doping was a thing, so I think Coe did it clean. The 800m WR was weak at that point.
This is quickly morphing into a COPE and SEETHE thread.
You are pathetic. Later.
