This is why i can’t stand Jos Hermens. This is the same guy who brings his athlete into the race knowing he is underprepared (for example, Amsterdam a few years ago), then calls out his own athlete in public when he unsurprisingly DNF’s.

Yes, there are many examples of athletes who get sick or back off due to a niggle, and fear that they are not going to go well, when they end up doing quite well.
I think Jos could be tempering the pressure a little with what he said rather than setting up Bekele for failure.....but who knows.
