Yes he overcooked the first half and probably could have ran sub-2:01 if he paced it better but my god that was exciting thinking sub-2 was on for a good hour and ten

Yes agreed. Difficult to get that exact balance. His previous world record of 2:01:39 he ran almost the exact opposite with a massive negative split in the second half, although it wasn't sub 60!
What an incredible race! He is amazing. Especially for a man who probably qualifies as middle aged, let’s face it.
Agreed. And to me, as he gets older, he looks more and more the age he is, like years ago everyone said he looked way older than his supposed age, but now I’d say he looks great, like what a 38 year old man would be expected to look like. think Aaron rodgers, rothlesberger, Lebron in a year or so, not Tom Brady tho…
Only thing I’m disappointed about is no boss moves from Kipchoge. woulda been boss as crap if after that 59:50 first half, when Belihu started inevitably fading, for him to motion to him to get up there with him like suck it up buttercup come on get up here with me

Or if he threw in a gratuitous yelling at Galen Rupp
very cool. Good race by him. I’ll tune in when he runs a race instead of a time trial next
What a bizarre statement. You're saying that because there were some pacers for the first half that it wasn't a race? There were dozens of other elite marathoners that Kipchoge was competing against. He's just that good that they were never really a factor.

This seems to be a kind of Schrödinger's Douchebag.
If someone "only" wins medals and doesn't have WRs they aren't really that good and if someone sets WRs in circumstances where this is possible then it isn't a real race.
I’m impressed but to be honest would be more impressed if he would win NYC & Boston to complete the WMM Slam
You are more impressed if he win nyc and Boston than if he sets a freaking new world record? He wins NYC and Boston if he just enters them, a world record is pushing the limits of humanity. The one is a matter of priority the othet is a matter of leaving an imprint in history just a handfull have been able to do the last 100 years.

Running 2:01:09 is a boss move you schmuck. Teatricals and stupid stuff like that can be left to lesser runners. The others isn't at the same planet, he knows it, they know it, everyone knows it.
