Have to give a shoutout too 2013 Hopkins Grad Reed Fischer for his 10th place finish in the New York City Marathon this past Sunday. High school PR's (I think) of 4:29, 9:23, and 16:15.
Eden Prairie upset Edina in the Section 2AAA Cross Country Meet and made the most of the opportunity by placing eighth among 16 teams in the State Class AAA Meet
Why go elsewhere? Run close to home, keep the tuition bill low (this is really important for many people), get a great degree, I don't see a reason to re-consider.
Rosemount - Honestly it's a toss up between the top3. Would love to see Harder's squad get the win here with his son being a senior. Can't have an off race for anyone in the top5.
Rosemount’s coach also has a freshman son on the team (Ike) who is in the top 5 on the team for freshmen. They also have an 8th grader on the team faster than all of them and he is an alternate for the state meet. This freshman-and-under class is not THE best in the state but looks promising. They won the freshman race at the Irish invite
Rosemount also has another 8th grader who ran a 8:37 2400 and dominated this middle school district race

Yeah I’m sure he quit. No clue what happen. Can’t find his name anywhere, maybe he moved. He could be playing another sport, but I still can’t find him rostered to any other sports. Maybe had a bad XC experience.
Could possibly be in a situation one kid from Newbury Park fell into (he ran a sub-15 at RunningLane). Just like Wayzata they are now only 6-deep at the most
For those who are wondering why he hasn’t ran, you can find clear proof in his Instagram that he has been hurt. Definitely a big injury if he’s been out for as long as he’s had but he hasn’t delete...
He’s gonna make the team better next year if he sticks with the U of M
But he probably realizes now that he’s better than he originally thought he was so he will have time to commit somewhere else if he wants

I hear what you’re saying. From a running perspective, I think how runners such as Joe Klecker, Joseph Minor, Ben Olson, Acer Iverson performed while competing for other schools shows, while many runners who stayed home for the U, were getting beat handily by guys they were way better than in high school.
In addition to this, not having an indoor track season is a huge bummer. There’s a reason the other top runners in the state (Gilles, Breker) chose to go elsewhere.

No beef with any of this. It is worth keeping in mind that Gilles' tuition bill is no more than Jones' because of reciprocity.
The Minnesota folks can be grateful that the State Cross Country Meet was last weekend. If it were tomorrow I believe the wind chill would be about 22-25 degrees which is chilly to race and even worse to spectate.
Look how many Heartland teams are in the top 25 right now for the boys in the Milesplit rankings Wayzata - 14 Dowling - 15 Stevens Point - 20 Rosemount - 25. Would be closer to Wayzata if Schultz was with the Rosemount pack https://www.milesplit.com/rankings/flo50/1492/5295 It makes no sense that Washburn is 5th in the region instead of Lakeville North
For Rosemount to beat Wayzata, not only did Schultz need to stick with his teammates, but someone who isn’t Mulrooney needed to beat the senior who was #1 in the class of 2023 every year until 2020. Hard to do. Wayzata is simply the best team

Could also be overage
Or a sickness or an injury that would keep him out the whole season

Edina boys win rising stars. Their scorers are all on their real varsity team. Sophomore Danielson finished close to Haerter. Looking to be an awesome 1-2 punch in the coming years
