This is a hurdles event again BTW. If you recall there was something sketchy with the start in the 110M hurdles final.
SMH....nothing wrong with the clock. Time the race yourself. I had it at 11.87 on my stopwatch. Which is 11.9 hand time. Add 0.24 which is standard from hand to auto and you get 12.14. So her time was legit.
I have no confidence in any time under 400m at this meet. None. They need to verify this timing system. How is that even done?
Same... I don't know about that 19.3 now either. I wouldn't have questioned it if the Allen thing didn't happen and now this.
Lyles 19.3 felt legit cause he CRUSHED an amazing field. Watching the Hurdle semi's it looked like standard heats but then everyone had crazy times. Normally in a world record you'd see a sizeable win, but man I swear those races looked no different then the diamond league races that were being won in 12.5-12.7
Nothing sketchy about it. When somebody is running a WR pace, most athletes unconciously open up untapped potential. Only when the race is finished do they realized how fast all of them ran
2012 800m final: seven of the eight ran their PB (to this day!) that day with the winner establishing a pretty secure WR.
But that was NOT bs.
You don't want to say it but Rudisha was almost inconceivably good to be natural, Timothy was an age cheater and never ran faster, same with Amos, who was also using, based on his previous whereabout or doping violation and the current one, so really how legit was that race?
The 200m field wasn’t even half as amazing as this 100mH field. In the 200, we had 2 clear favorite for gold. In this 100mH, 7-8 women could have won gold, it was a very very loaded field and this event was criminally underrated, it’s a shame this event wasn’t talked about. All the heats had to be ran like a final, the qualification was also brutal. In semifinal 1 we had 4 women in contention for gold for a qualification spot of 2! All the national records and pbs were women running and trying to hang with a 12.12s.

Did you have this same attitude with Sydney's record?
Improving by .4 over 100m vs .7 over 400 is kinda huge
I mean it was by 0.3 but whatever.
Regardless, I think most people just don't understand the quality in women's hurdles today.
Alaysha Johnson ran 12.35 in Eugene last month in a negative -1.4 wind. If she had the wind Tobi had when she broke the WR yesterday, it would have also been a similar time to 12.12.
I somehow doubt the Americans on the board would have been questioning her improvement or the legitimacy of the timing system if that happened.
Nobody has an interest in WRs, CRs, NRs, PBs which can't be beaten anymore. Not the IAAF, not the sponsors, not the athletes. So, just enjoy the great performances, the great competitions, the drama and the joy we experienced in Eugene! If your hero didn't win, then it was most possible his/her fault.
I’m a timer for track and field meets and would be very confident in saying there is no error in the time. With all the backup equipment they have, no chance. As far as the reaction times, those are stand alone from the timing equipment. If they are not reading properly (which I’m not saying they weren’t), it would have zero impact on finishing time

What is even a plausible connection between a hypothesized bug in the starting block sensor and one that causes the total run time to be underreported?

There was a 100M race earlier this year where the winner, I think his name is Garcia, was timed at 9.8. And everyone in that race ran PBs. This is exactly the same thing. There was something off with the timing of that race.
