The two sub 49s are women who are in individual events here. One of the other sub 50's is in an individual event here. One of the sub 50's couldn't make it out of the first round of the qualifying meet and the other didn't compete in the qualifying meet. The 400m is not deep on the US side. There's a bunch of 50.5-51.5 athletes competing which on the world stage isn't great.
Felix gave up a big lead but that was to the 400m silver medalist. The anchor choked this one away. If the US is going to do this event then put some better people on it. Hell why is t our best 200m runner on it? She’s been running 48 second splits all year in college. So many options. The men got screwed lol. Feel bad for them
And Wadeline Jonathas got screwed, too. AF had an incredible career for, what, two decades now? She had her time, but now other athletes (whose time is now) get passed over for those who don't know when it's time to leave. Let others take their turn, Team USA.

Jonathas split 51.6 in the prelims.
Fair point, but my point is that Team USA needs to give a chance to female athletes not named Allyson Felix. You don't let them run in the big races, dealing with that kind of pressure and handling the rounds, then you're not doing anything to improve the next group of runners.

I agree but do any of the athletes in the A squad wants to run the mixed 4x4???

This was Felix's last world championships event. Would have been sad to not let her run the final.

Glad they didn't win, sick of hearing about Felix tbh

I get that, but wasn't she retiring last year, anyway? She's got medals galore. It's time for our other sprinters to get the reins.
