If there is a 2 million contract I’ll pretty much guarantee you that it’s not per year. The sensible thing would be that it would take her through the cycle for the next Olympic year. So 7/1/22 to 12/31/24. That would be believable.
I give Puma until maybe November until they walk away from running shoes again.
STILL can't find where to buy these shoes.
When a friend of mine kept raving about Puma getting back into the running game I just laughed. I worked at a run specialty store for a couple of years in the 2010 time frame when Puma was spending loads of money.
I tried really hard to like their trainers, but they just weren't very good. Maybe they have figure it out 10+ years later.
Looking like Kenny has got himself in a bit of trouble.
Yup, people are so stupid and willing to believe anything. It's a very sad commentary on the state of this country. Kenny got himself 7,800 likes on Twitter for that post (around 7,500 more then he's even gotten before) and a whole bunch of new followers, but failed miserably as a human being. The Tweet is still up BTW. As I posted many times on many threads, I saw where he got the info from and it was obviously BS. It would be easy to blame him completely, but the blame goes to the "news organizations/magazines/whatever, that wrote articles using Kenny's BS tweet as a source. I won't even get into the tiny brains here at LRC that couldn't navigate their way out of a cardboard box much less find the truth.
A rare 10/10 for Let's Run for not jumping onboard and reporting the BS, I can only hope the rational posts here helped them hold off.
She's constantly improving, and is having an incredible 2022 season, but can Abby Steiner find her way onto the podium at this year's world championships?===...

....and even that would be top dollar. Maybe our sport is not as in the dregs as I thought.
Being white does matter when it comes to a female sprinter. Just as much as being black did for Tiger Woods. It’s not racist, it’s simply being an outlier. Perhaps Puma thinks she will be someone white kids will look up to and focus more on the sport.
Of course, you have to be a great athlete first and her US title was very impressive. If the contract is true, it is a bit of a gamble by Puma. If she medals in Worlds or eventually becomes a World/Olympic champ, she will be a huge name and would command even more money. It doesn’t hurt that she’s really pretty too. I bet Coburn makes at least that kind of money. Bolt made a lot more. Galen probably makes more and he has no charisma.
DeGrasse is also with Puma. They're trying to bulk up on sprinters. They already have good sprinter spikes, unlike what others are saying.
While DeGrasse won the Oly 200, I don't fancy his chances this Worlds. The event is stacked and he hasn't been great this year, and is getting over covid.
People just see the numbers in bold. More importantly is contract terms. A big number but it could be over 5 years. ie 2mil/5yrs is 400K/yr. Not an earth shattering amount.
I hope she gets a big contract. Put her on the 4x400 and she'll likely get gold.
