Do what you can, forget the things you can't control, and accept that you will age (assuming you're not unlucky).
Do what you can, forget the things you can't control, and accept that you will age (assuming you're not unlucky).
Summary:
Don't: smoke, do drugs, drink alcohol in excess, gain excessive weight, hold grudges, worry
Do: sunscreen, floss, exercise consistently, sleep, work hard, eat healthily, be kind, be generous
Hope for: good genes, loving spouse
"You're only as old as the women you feel."
That was my first thought.
The achievement of mere contentment is much easier on the lifespan than the dogged pursuit of happiness.
Keep in mind that if something is truly a "secret", it will be rejected by the vast majority.
Most this stuff is entry level.
More advanced: fruits and veg have been covered, but specifically focus on getting your carotenes. A beta carotene supplement has been shown to help prevent and repair photo-ageing in one study:
More generally, this literature review will set you on the right path in regards to nutrition and ageing:
Hyaluronic Acid supplementation is probably worth a shot. Collagen seems like it may help.
Resistance training is a must. Ideally you’ll already be lean and somewhat muscular, and will have been that way for over a decade - have it on complete autopilot.
Sunscreen (face, neck, hands), hats, and hair loss prevention is a given. I wouldn’t be scared of the sun though - except if you’re an Aussie. Dear lord the photo-ageing on Australian’s skin is something else.
Retinoid and moisturiser are the gold standard. Few promising anti-oxidants you can throw in - Vitamin C, niacinamide etc. AHA acid peels are good too. But it’s all a balancing act. Most people use too many products and need to simply use a retinoid a few days per week.
Hydration seems to have an added benefit of reducing dynamic wrinkles, which likely means it’ll reduce static wrinkle formation (not seen a study on this).
Avoid smoking.
Avoid binge drinking.
Finally, accept it. A huge part of it is genetics, you’re really just managing the 30% (numbers pulled out of my backside) you can control (smoking, sun, staying in shape).
Cut out drinking
Take edibles before bed every night
Yoga
Its all about activating klotho and getting enough foxxo. Many have unfavorable genes they should take into account such as apoe4 that reduce sortli1. It means that those should be even better at activating klotho and getting foxxo. Vit A and E should be taken early in life because it gets harder to use later. 25% cant get omega3 from normal supplements and should look into that. It should be taken with vitamin B- especially for the 45% with MTHFR mutations. 20% gets better hearth health from alcohol due to cept gene, but 25% should get as litte as possible etc.
Yeah, no. Except the last part.
Those with longlivity gene apoe2 should avoid getting skin cancer because their cells is like juice for cancer. Insulinesensitivity is dangerous for brain health. Processed food is a big no no for many. Those with many relatives who have livet to over 90 without major issues can have double klotho gene and should monitor their colesterol, calcium and vit D in serum if they dont want stroke.
No drinking, run some trails and spend a couple of days a week in the weight room and cross training. Know what's important to you and focus on that. Don't get involved in a relationship that you're not going to prioritize and make sure you enjoy it. It truly is just as easy to focus on being happy as it is being miserable.
1. SUNSCREEN EVERY DAY
2. Wear clothes that fit
3. Don't eat too much
As E.B. White said in Charlotte's Web: "We're born, we live a little while, we die." Spending your life trying to bioengineer yourself into the perfect human who lives for 237 years is a prescription for a miserable existence. Enjoy your youth while you have it, but don't spend the rest of your days trying to unring the bell of father time.
I'm old. There is no wisdom that comes with age, just experience.
If you're lucky, you'll live long enough but not too long. The idea that you can do much beyond the obvious (don't smoke like a chimney) to make more than a tiny difference is silly.
Sunscreen, as others have said, is useful along with retinol at night. If you really wanna go in on the skincare, you can use growth factor serum (some are crazy expensive, others are just moderately so). And a derma roller (nothing crazy, just the 0.5mm ones).
Stretching, and working out each muscle group. Lift heavy if you wanna be big, but for anti ageing, you just have to make sure you hit each muscle group moderately on a regular basis.
Cut out drinking, and smoking, sleep decent amounts, find ways to eliminate stress, and also, make sure you get lots of fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds. I recommend making "energy balls" or whatever they're called, look them up, easy to make, store them in the freezer, made with dates, walnuts, flax seeds, and some vanilla extract.
Add amla powder to a vegetable smoothie (it'll make it taste like sh*t). Amla has more antioxidants than anything in existence, one teaspoon of that in a smoothie, and you're consuming more antioxidants than 99% of humanity.
Cutting out saturated fat and salt from your diet will help, and if you want your teeth to last, have a good dental routine (flossers, microbrushes for back teeth that are hard to reach, waterpik, interdental brushes, electric toothbrush blah blah, sensodyne toothpaste, all that stuff). I'd just recommend getting some disclosing tablets, shows you where the plaque is, then you can brush til it's all gone, and understand how to properly clean your mouth.
Forget the hair regeneration products, lose your hair gracefully, that stuff might get a little hair back, but the hormones in it aren't good for you.
i think people use this idea to make bad short run decisions. anti-aging tips arent only about to extend length of life, but how to extend the Quality of Life.
interesting to note: Grip strength is an good indicator of lifespan.
Cut out sugar, cut way back on carbs. Eat lots of protein. Take collagen supplements. Wear sunglasses. Get lots of sun, but try not to burn. Ask women what to do about wrinkles on your face. Work out hard, but don't bury yourself. Go VERY long now and then, whatever that means to you. Do everything you can to keep from having chronic anything.
Don't waste brain cells arguing with pathetic partisan losers, here or elsewhere.
