Easily the 10000 after last nights performances. The 1500 and 5000 seem pretty easy too. What about the 3000 steeple? He does have a 8:26pr from 2017. Even with rounds it seems possible.
No way. The 1500M final is at 1:52pm on Saturday and the 3,000M steeple final is at 2:04pm. He would have 7 minutes in between races. Hocker/Teare are too good for him to just jog an easy win and then run sub 8:20 5 minutes later.
He wins the 10,000, 1,500, and then comes back the next day and wins the 5,000. But I am a doubter in his ability to complete the 1500/3,000 steeple double with 5 minutes rest.
50/50 chance of the final. Zero chance of winning.
You don’t think a 3:28 guy can make it thorough the rounds in better shape than the others? He could make top 3.
I don't think so. Jakob's PR is 1:46.44, and there is no indication that he can run faster than 1:45 from a standing start. Having a 3:28 1500m PR does not automatically mean one is a world class 800m runner. Jakob is of course an aerobic monster, but his never shown speed prowess. Gjert has even said that his sons have no raw speed. He probably would be able to make the final, but given Clayton M, Brandon M, Isaiah J, Bryce H, Donavan B etc are in ok shape, it would be a huge ask for him to medal.
Yeah but his 1:46 was done as a teenager and I wonder whether he has a high 1:44 in him. It cannot be ruled out. Especially if he were to train for it. There is no point of course as he is better at 15 and 5.

Probably can run 1:45. But again, may be difficult to make it through the rounds.
I wouldn't pick him over Murphy/Brazier/Hoppel + any other one of the 1:44 guys the US has.
One of those names is not like the others…I’m sorry Jakob would demolish Murphy in every track event on the planet.
Huh? Murphy went 1:43.1 to dominate the trials last year. If Jakob could go sub 1:43.1, El G's 1500M record would be obliterated considering his aerobic ability.
You have to wonder would he actually have a chance to win the 800 at USATF if that was his only event. I say 50/50.
50/50 he could make U.S. 800m final.
Maybe I did not clarify what I meant. Jakob is only training for 800m. He would surely make the US team. The guy is superior maybe due to doping but he is dominant at 1500m and he could beat most of the US at 800m if he focused on that.

You didn't need to clarify. Maybe if he would have trained differently from age 12 and developed the necessary neuromuscular coordination. U.S. has decent 800m runners. My response remains the same.

I love the OP's question. I think they mean you get full rest. Could he beat the US's best in every single distance event.
I think in a match race there is little chance he loses to anyone on the flat stuff. No 5000 or 10,000 guy is strong enough to push the pace without rabbits to drop him. He actually might be most vulnerable in a 1500. Hocker would have a better chance of staying near him without rabbits and then seeing what happens in the final 200 than Fisher would of dropping him in a 10,000.
Steeple is another ball game. But I think he'd win it if the prize purse was 10 million and he had 6 months to train for it.
jakob is a 1500/5000 guy so conceding the 10k to him seems a little optimistic given fisher is number 7 all time at the distance. the 800 is even more of a stretch. especially if someone like brazier finds his 2019 form (this would be a pointless discussion) or even murphy finding his 2021 trials form.

Jakob would win the US steeple easily with no training, he has great natural technique and is considerably faster than any US steepler over the flat 3k. He ran 8:26 and qualified for WCs when he was 16, he could go out and run 8 flat tomorrow, 8:05 at absolute worst.

I agree. Forget US champion, I think he could contend for a world title at the steeple.
