More combination of similar threads. Covid threads call all be in one. Election stuff all in one, etc. That would help reduce the amount of non-running related threads and stop having them dominate the board.

Less of me. This site is a demeaning, time-suck distraction, on the whole.
The most interesting threads always get deleted.
1) upvotes are coming in next release
2) posters can only use on anonymous name per thread
3)Not sure what you are talking about in terms of talking to athletes. Robert and Jon might have been the only US running journalists in Tokyo taking to athletes . They’re not allowed to use audio or video from the Olympics but pretty much the only place to hear what athletes were saying after there races in Tomyo was LetsRun. We had athletes comments in our articles and obviously we’d get their reaction on our post race show.
This year was a little weird with covid (at the trials we had to interview athletes on zoom) but we agree the Main reason to attend a meet in person is to talk to athletes afterwards.
Required registration. I’ve been a visitor since the beginning when there were more civil and informative discussions. When the old Dyestat message board went away (2008), the kiddos moved here and realized without registration they could talk s*** about people. Stop it- it’s not benefitting the sport. Relying on moderation isn’t enough.

I would like to see ip and permanent bans of the spammers who bump old threads to post spam links. This happens a lot and letsrun does nothing about it.
We ban people like this daily. And delete tons of posts. There just is a lot of it . Hoping to make it easier for mods . Keep reporting these posts if you see them
Non-Running related threads to not be included in the Main Forum
Stop protecting posters who post blatantly racist, anti-semitic garbage. And what's with the resurgence of the anti-semitic stuff anyway? I thought UncleB was long gone.
Otherwise, you're website is perfect.

I think the format of the forum inherently makes spam and troll posts more visible. On the summary page, every single thread is visible in chronological order, which gives the same priority to every thread whether crappy or valuable. And within each thread, every single comment must be waded through. The only curation method available in this paradigm is manual deletion of threads and comments by mods. Chronological sorting is a sub-optimal method and it requires a lot of legwork from the mods to keep the boards looking half-presentable. If there were some other sorting options, users wouldn't come across so much crap and they also wouldn't have to work so hard to stay engaged in actual good threads. If I have to scroll down the thread list to find the thread I'm interested in and manually check to see if someone has responded to my comment or contributed something interesting, I'm going to be digging through a LOT of sht. And that drives engagement with trolls, because everyone has to read their sht.
And supporter's club enhanced forum features are not a fix for this, because it's an ecosystem-level issue. If you want to change the ecosystem, you have to affect every forum user. For example, if everyone had the ability to see replies to their comments by default, they wouldn't need to constantly refresh the thread list/the thread they're watching, and people would be less likely to take the trolls' bait. Just one example of how enhancing the forum for everyone would change it for the better.
Have a weekly or monthly feature where a past or present elite athlete provides a complete training plan (every day with splits and pace) that they used for a successful race and also have them discuss what it took for them to get ready for that training cycle and what sort of periodization they used. They could also talk about their approach to strength training, stretching, nutrition, etc.
The best marathon training cycles I had were based off of an article about Mahon's training plan for Ryan Hall and an article about Canova's marathon training plans. I think if you throw some money at some pros and retired pros, they would be happy to share their training plans and give a detailed discussion about what it took to get there. The training info that I have generally seen online is pretty incomplete and is usually just a two week template that says nothing about build up, peaking or taper.
And we do not need training plans of the stars. Pros who were solid 2:12 marathoners would be very interesting to learn about what worked for them as much as someone like Martin Lel or Kipchoge.

Says the guy with an anonymous account.
Not to mention that registration does nothing here anyways.
it's already on the staging server.
not sure why you think we'd delete the comment. We let people rip on us all the time. Probably shouldn't but we do.
But this requires actual, real work.
Rojo would much rather just parrot something he saw on Fox News with the vague, BS disclaimer connecting it to running that, "I talk about stuff like this while I run!!"
Have some way for users to block posts or threads from certain accounts, maybe a block button you could click on each post like you can click likes/dislikes on other sites. I guess this might only work for registered users since there has to be some way to remember which users have blocked which posters.

Wow! What a hero!
The anti semetic posters do seem to be bigger in numbers now. We ban people like this regularly.
Honestly, the biggest disappointment from LRC last year was the abandonment of basic journalistic principles when reporting on Houlihan's case. I was fine with LRC deciding that you believed she was innocent but the way that you guys arrived at that and then promoted unsubstantiated arguments was beneath journalistic standards. In particular, you guys promoted a blog post from a a staunch defender of Houlihan and made no effort to ascertain their credentials. You promoted it as offering insight into the science of Houlihan's case without knowing if this person even understood what they were talking about.
At a minimum, a journalist would have ascertained the credentials of the writer of that blog before promoting it, and then they would have double-checked their arguments with a noted authority on anti-doping procedures. You guys didn't do that, you just found some info that confirmed what you wanted to believe and promoted it as authoritative.
So, in 2022 I'd like to see the opinion pieces that you do well, but I'd also like to see you behave like a genuine news site even when I means you have to question your own priors or possibly upset some of your contacts. You lost credibility with your reporting on Houlihan and you need to recover that.
A better banning/shadowbanning system since the current one doesn't seem to work. It would make your other moderation efforts a lot easier.
What do you mean by "ability to see replies to their comments by default"?
A lot of these things people are asking for "ability to see running only posts, etc" will come out in the update next week.
