1st time for Cross Country. Wow.
1st time for Cross Country. Wow.
I like the idea of cross country in the olympics, but would prefer it in the winter. would only serve to water down races on the track
Mt Sac is 100 miles from UCA. Too far away from the main host USC Coliseum.
Sapporo is 700 miles from TOKYO. No problem.

Maybe we can send our C team like we do for WXC

Mt Sac is the only real cross country race in North America. The rest are flat time trials designed by coaches to earn bonus money.

You must have never gone to Sunken Meadow, Van Cortlandt, or Bowdoin Park.

Finally. Totally. The way it should be.
Olympic medals are earned through blood, sweat, and tears.
Mt Sac is the roughest XC course known to mankind and only Mt Sac deserves the Olympic Games.
I was not aware cross country had been added.

I see a lot of talk about these on here but have trouble believing that they are actually truly hard courses on par with Mt SAC. It is true that California has many pancake 3 mile and 5k courses meant for time trialing, but in the North we have Frogtown, on the Coast we have Crystal Springs, and in the South we have Mt SAC. There is plenty of “real XC” in this state, a hell of a lot more than you see on the NCAA circuit that is for sure
NCAA does not have true Cross, but high school courses throughout America are very real. Sunken Meadow is a beast. I think it is easily the toughest of those NY courses. VCP is not incredibly difficult.

It's about 30 miles, although who knows how long that would take in traffic.
Mt Sac is the World's Cross Country Course. Hilmer Lodge is the World's Track and Field Stadium.
Why? The sheer volume of competitors, parents, siblings, friends and coaches at Mt Sac XV and Mt Sac Relays is stunning and breathtaking the first time I attended each annual event. Makes me proud to be a runner.

Probably because it hasn't been

Coaches get bonuses for XC running? The courses are not identical and I've never heard of anyone running XC time trials.

VCP might be historic but knowledgable people never suggest that it is very hard. There are many more difficult courses on the east coast.

How does VCP compare to Mt Sac? I have never been west of Lake Erie for cross.
Question for anybody who is lucky enough to have attended both.

Mt. Sac is far closer than 100 miles. Volleyball is in Anaheim. Rowing and canoeing is in Riverside County, much further away than Mt. Sac. Mountain biking is in San Dimas. Long Beach has several sports.
Mt Sac is a gimmick course. It's not in any way real XC. Real XC involves grass.
