For the record, by GDP per capita, blue states are the rich states and red states are the poor states.
Counting DC,
of the top 10 richest, 8 are blue states
of the top 10 poorest, 9 are red states
I'm sure if you broke it down by congressional district we'd see the same thing or even worse. Fact is, red-led states are relatively poor compared to enlightened blue states. Like southeast asia, red state america is attracting business because of its lower cost of living, due to its relative poverty. Cheap real estate, cheap labor, etc.
