Title should say - In the Mile
I listened to a podcast years ago when Sr. said he’d lose a bet with Jr. if he claimed an AR.
is this the least centro thing ever, or the most centro thing ever?
Sounds like this is going to be an even smaller meet than when Webb ran the AR. He'd have to be in about 3:29-3:30 1500 shape to get it, so I don't see it happening. I hope he can prove me wrong though!

Times have never mattered to him BUT he’s finally back in 3:30/3:47 shape IMO and this is the era of time trial setups. Why not throw down and get prepped for the possibility he needs to run off a very fast pace in the Olympics final.
Sweet! But also, why?
Your move Alan Webb!

He has nothing to lose. He has the super spikes and he is not getting any younger. Why not?
I don't see the upside here.
If he's truly in 3:30 shape, why burn matches doing this? Could have just as easily run a low-key TT and accomplished much the same. Part of me wonders if he wants to miss this mark, and use the ridicule he'll get here and elsewhere for Tokyo motivation.
Or, like I said, he gets it, which might not be the best thing for a Tokyo race that's some time off.
Oh, and can someone post whatever the Instragram content is, for those of us who don't do such social media?

Will be hectic with racing travel racing. If he can pull off a 46-47 (or better) he's for sure a medal favourite.

pretty much just says will be streamed by Tracklandia

He timed his doping to peak on 7/24. Then it'll be out of his system for the Olympic testing. He's playing the game well.

I would say he’s got more than “nothing” to lose, Are Tim or Jakob gonna suddenly be scared if he runs 3:48? I suppose if he actually gets the AR it would mean something, but I don’t see him doing that now. His best bet is to keep his cards close to the vest and be more of a mystery heading into Tokyo.
I’m also old-school in my belief at focusing one thing at time. We are 10 days out from the Games, don’t be experimenting with Jerry-certified time trials
Bring the mile back to the Democrats!
Better to accomplish something satisfying now, than throw all your eggs in the possibility basket of testing positive in Tokyo and not getting to run.
