King999 would have the inside word.
We can confirm he's going pro.

Does anyone know how that works? Could a kid go pro and still run college. I really do think the college system is amazing for someone of his ability.

You guys really need to get a life. Why would Kessler become a pro runner? What a sad life that would be. Kessler wants to go to college, be part of a team, get a degree and then find a career. Maybe he'd like to be a teacher, like his mother. Maybe he'd like to be an engineer. Northern Arizona is going to pay him well. He's not going to go pro.
Let's think about it. Go to college where your scholarship pays for tuition and housing and you net $0. Or, get a $50k base salary with an additional housing stipend and a travel budget to travel the world.
And NAU will not pay him extra money. NAU is not a big athletic school generating hundreds of millions of dollars like the SEC schools.

LRC update. Here is our story on the matter.

While reading Gault's story and almost had a heart attack!
The 18-year-old Kessler, who recently graduated from Community High School in Ann Arbor, Mich., (but competed for Skyline High School) had committed to run for Northern Arizona University in the fall but will instead join Drew Hunter and Josh Hoey...

Get a life? And yet here you are...
And wrong at that. Choose another venue, know-it-all.

You guys do realize this person was joking, right?
I just spoke to Ron and Mr. Kessler , it is indeed true he is going Pro(old news now), as most expected, anyone who says they know the details would not know other than 5-6 people. It is by far the right move and he is, in my opion one of the smoothest, best prospects I have seen from the U.S. From 8:39 yards, and 1:47.x split and 3:34.x , the best prospect I have seen in the U.S. ever, in last 50 years. That includes a lot of guys, I am pretty old.
Ron has done a spectacular job here

Oh dear 😂
so if he runs any more records from now on would they still count for hs record or is he now considered graduated and pro? When is the cutoff for when a hs record counts?
If you had a pro contract and could, presumably, afford to go practically anywhere for college, why choose NAU?

I know you can do it if you play a different sport in college. There are many examples of guys signing pro baseball contracts and playing football in college. Historically you can’t play the same sport (would XC be considered different from T&F?) but with NIL/SCOTUS decision that might be changing
The Adidas salary offer was matched by New Balance except that it was a few years shorter. It's a shame they didn't sign him I think he could be a marketing star for a true American brand unlike Adidas where he will be drowned out by Football and Basketball stars no matter how fast he runs.
Drew Hunter should move to Michigan and join Very Nice TC.
No way...never take less money. Fewer years IS less money.
It is especially a good deal if adidas has floated him a long term deal and the freedom to train where he wants and with the group he wants.
If he runs well he could likely renegotiate with adidas around the time his NB contract would have run out.
Anyone know or can speculate on details of the contract?
I'm interested in how much he'll make before bonuses. I know running doesn't pay all that well in general, and contracts are super secretive, but curious why he wouldn't go to school instead, it's be free presumably. It's not a lock that he's going to be a stud.
Can he count on more than 50K/yr?
I have no idea about these things.
