Guess she should’ve stuck to the 800.

comes second in her off-event at nationals

The goal was the national record. She was definitely devastated. You could see it as soon as she crossed the line. Second is the toughest spot to deal with especially when you think you are going to win.
She has the indoor collegiate records in the 600 (also the American record from her high school days) the 800 and part of the 4x4 as an 18 year old freshman. She had an off race today but she will be okay.
SHE JUST SPLIT 49.54
AND HER TEAM WON THE 4X4
Hard to call a 1st/2nd "devastated"
Mu will go home with her head held high - as she should for these impressive marks
She was devastated. Did you not see her after the 400? She had a great meet but you could see how upset she was.
The decision to race her in the 400 might have cost them the team title. Even a double in the 800 but lower finish in the 400 could have won it for them.
49-second 4 x 400m split.. she redeemed herself.
My thoughts are that at that point in the meet the team race was still close before the Arkansas domination in the 3k and she was more concerned about that than anything else. She seems to be very much a team player. Awesome job on the relay!
That’s silly, She was not doubling regardless
She could have easily scored 14 points in the 2 events.

Bruh stop it. Don’t act like anything other than a W would have been considered a success for someone like her.
I don't get the math here. A&M lost by 11, with Mu a part of 18 points. The only way she gets them a win is if she is a part of 30 points, ie. win 400, win 800 and win 4x4. That wasn't going to happen. If you assume she just does 400/800, then they would lose a few places in 4x400 without her 49 leg.
She just got beat in 400, and came back with a vengeance in 4 x400. The real surprise was how many points Ark putt up in 800 thru 3000.

That is right, A&M basically performed to their seeds, with some minor plus and minuses. Arkansas outperformed their seeds by a lot today, in the hh, 800, mile, 3,000.
I agree - A&M relying entirely on Gittens, Mu, Young, and Accqua to win the championship. Need more help. distance, pole vault, thrower?
Anyone else think she was too worried about the record and should have just focused on winning the 400
What do you guys think? If she tucked in behind the leader in the 400, could she have outkicked here come the last turn? Seems like she ran a lot of extra effort in Lane 2, instead of tucking in behind her using the drafting energy and trying a slingshot around the bank track when it came to the final turn
Anyway how how much do they go over race strategy do you think?

Couldn’t agree more!
The 400 didn’t fall her way, but she bounced back in a big way with her 4x4 performance.
Any idea on where her indoor relay split lands all time?

They also had a huge coaching error in the triple jump. Acquah jumped 14.27 early then passed on 3 jumps. She was in the lead but another jumper had a PR of 14.36 from the week before so I don't know why they felt comfortable.
Someone else jumped exactly 14.27 and won on a tie breaker because Acquah didn't have a good 2nd jump.
That's 4 points they lost between TJ and Mu not in the 8.
It very well could have cost then the title if Arkansas didn't do so well in the 3k (thanks to a big fall from Henes and others).

Agree, this was a learning experience. If someone gets the lead on you, be patient (see Charlie Hunter).
