The girl in 6th (2nd most of the race) looks like she was wearing Adidas Adios Pro trainers. Not allowed right?
In the women's 5000m...
Amaris Tyynismaa isn't in the 3000m.
I believe that rule only applies to qualifying times sanctioned by world athletics and possibly usatf. Since they compete under ncaa jurisdiction they can wear them
I didn't see Tuohy stumble, but she doesn't look comfortable running in the pack. Looked like she was moving up on the inside and then wasn't sure she could get out...so dropped around the back of the pack and then came up the other side. She looked much better than her first DMR.
I was wondering how NC placed 7th, until I saw the DQ. Still pretty good run by Shaw.
Nice to see Hart running as well.
Wayment completely crushed it for BYU
And too bad for Alabama....their anchor had the fastest final leg and made up several places....but pretty blatant (although accidental) interference.
She got boxed in a little due to the runners converging and then she was just patient. NCST was not going to win this event and realistically in the 1200m leg you just need to be within striking distance of the front. Ran a good time and looked good at the end.
I know this is the "Lets go for a long Run" website but I've read through all 10 pages of posts so far and I've seen only a handful of comments about events that aren't distance events. It might be even less because I think the comments about Athing Mu were only made because she's slumming in the 400 meter dash.
I will give you the DMR, that's a pretty exciting race and really the only chance that collegian harriers get a chance to act like a team although there is an entire collegiate sport devoted to team distance running. But in a meet where there have been two spectacular collegiate records broken so far the "Official 2021 Indoor Discussion" hasn't discussed either achievement at all.
Tara Davis jumped 6.93 meters, 22' 9" to break the women's indoor record, which also is number one mark in the world right now.
Tyra Gittens broke Kendall Williams pentathlon record by amassing 4746 points. She also the following day won the women's high jump and placed third in the long jump scoring for 26 points by herself and is currently leading the meet by herself.
I did see someone mention JuVaughn Harrison won the men's long jump but he also doubled that same day in winning the men's high jump as well.
I know it's early and today is a big day for everyone but I just wanted to point out some of the spectacular things going on at the NCAA Indoor Championships that I felt were being overlooked.
We would rather talk about 1 runner from one leg on a DMR than some of the best jumpers of all time.

Anyone can discuss what they want, but the site is "The Home of Running"
Sort of funny that there are weeks that go by with more posts about politics or Covid than running. But why should we talk about jumps when the results are phenomenal?

They get discussed
https://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=10455368bro ive posted about tyra gittens like 14 times in the last 2 weeks
But how many times on the letsrun.com "Official 2021 Indoor Discussion Thread"?
BTW, maybe already discussed, but that Rice girl in the 5000m was wearing the adidas adiZero adios.. does that shoe hit the stack height limit because Nike's 4% and Next% and AlphaFly are not allowed. Just interesting.
One other thing; the front page report has day 1 being Friday, but on Thursday they completed the women's pentathlon, four of the seven events for the men's heptathlon and completed the men's and women's weight throw. Now I know they referred to yesterday as the first full day of competition, but what do you call Thursday, day minus 1 of competition or the first half day of competition? Help me out here!

Been reading these messages boards since rungroteschief... maybe 6 career posts. But just had to say I simply don’t know what to make of the 3 Oregon guys looking so easy today in very fast times. Maybe the shoes are a gigantic difference. Lots of other fast guys in the heat one mile too. Maybe cross really does “ damage “ you more than we thought for track. It’s like I’m watching a sport which has decoupled from its past.
What’s good now?
The Oregon 3 looked so easy. And even Brown with what a 3:58/ 2:53 double ...
I think sometimes athletes are just on fire. That group is clearly ticking along pretty good right now. Sort of like Cragg on the track in early 2003 - could just do no wrong and looked effortless doing it.
Well then, how about Freshman Sydney Horn of High Point taking third in the women's pole vault. She didn't get the coverage in high school that her Pennsylvania sisters Starliper, Parks, and Diggs did, but she is certainly making a mark. High Point has really been putting resources into its athletics.

Jakob on Oly 1500- “Walk in the park if I don’t get injured or sick”
VALBY has graduated (w/ honors) from Florida, will she go to grad school??
Congrats to Kyle Merber - Merber has left Citius for position w/ Michael Johnson's track league
