OK, I did not phrase my comment re. Aliphine correctly. I know she just had a baby and is going to start running soon. I meant more like what is her potential in the summer. We have no idea how she will progress in training coming back after baby. She could be great, or go through what Sally did coming back from baby (not good.)
Sally runs a race soon and we'll know more.
I just saw the Hoka Naz Elite documentary and the discussion that came after it. Aliphine said she has felt guilt over winning over her teammates because she didn't really commit to her training till 5 weeks before the Trials while they had been gunning for it the whole time. (I think maybe she was coming back from an injury and was iffy about what she was doing.)
So maybe she doesn't need to be in primo condition for her to do well until like 2 months before the Olympics. The doc was great by the way if you get a chance to see it. I highly recommend. I know there's another showing March 7.
