That seems weird. He's not doing enough to create the Hasty that he thought he'd be when he came to NAU, for Hasty's sake.
No, what seems weird are your comments. Your line of thinking is bordering on bizarre. What you seem to be suggesting is that Smith is intentionally trying to hinder Hasty's development. You probably think that Smith lies awake at thinking to himself "what am I going to do to hinder Brodey Hasty's development and make him a bad runner? What can I do to make sure that Luis Grijalva, Nico Young, and Abdihamid Nur are better runners? I like those guys so much more than Brodey."
Speaking of development, you don't seem to understand it. You state that Hasty was fast than Grijalva, Young, and Nur while he was in high school and yes, for the most part, his times were faster. But you do understand that athletes, in just about any sport, develop at different rates and ages. High school success is not a predictor of future success, or do you not understand that? The sport, and all sports, have a lot of examples of guys that were superstuds in high school only to be pretty average, or worse, in college. You seem to think that if Hasty were at a different school and had a different coach, that he would be a vastly better runner.
For the record, I do not believe that Brodey is just an "average" runner. I still think that he is a hell of a competitor and will continue to do good things at NAU. You, Stoppit, apparently think that he sucks and is washed up. It's a good thinking that someone with your mentality isn't his coach.
