I am a 21 year old male division II college runner. I have been struggling with chronic bilateral anterior stress fractures for the past 2 years. Each time when I work on building milage I reach about 14-16 miles a week and my shins go to hell. Within my search for answers I have had MRI's, a DEXA scan, and blood taken for testing. I recently found out that I am anemic. My iron saturation is very low and my ferritin level is a 9. I have worked with a sports nutritionist and my diet is sufficient.
Regardless of my tibia issues, are there any iron supplements that anyone recommend I take?
