Jakob treated it like a workout, running alternating 3 minutes/2:40 kilometers until 8km when he began jogging.
It was funny to watch: He was way back in 50th at 1K, 2nd place at 2k, 40th at 3km, 1st overall at 4k, and so-on.

Sub 30 in his first ever road race, finishing ahead of Jakob, despite being injured and badly pacing due to inexperience. Pretty darn good.
Give him a year to focus on flat running, and give him a pair of carbon plate shoes, and he'll be sub 28.
I too think Kilian ran a fine race and agree he can run significantly faster with more experience and better shoes.
Are the women's results legit? Seems like a Heck of a run from Grovdal if true!
Yes. Not too far off Radcliffe’s AR, and she finally brought down Ingrid Kristiansen’s decades old NR.
Not too bad after a seven month injury lay-off this year.

I agree it’s not a horrible result. But throw out the Jakob comparison (he ran as a workout) and the sub 28(that’s not happening). Kilian mentions he’s been managing an injury the last couple weeks and that he is disappointed by the result but he learned a lot for next time. I could see him maybe breaking 29 or getting close. One of the things he mentions is that he needs to learn to manage injuries and niggles from flat road racing training. It’s harder on his body.

As I said, the guy is a fraud. Almost loses to top woman. His false claim of sub 30 in "training after a vk" is complete utter nonsense. He had 6 months to prep for a 29:59? He is a true mountain runner for long and technical events but not the goat of off road trail overall as there are faster type courses and even short courses like world champs in mountain which he has never won. He is also not as versatile as Gray, Walmslry or King. They all ran faster 10k easily but also win various mountain. Gray is truly exception as he has won some bug XC events and the faster 10k than all of them. Maybe time we stop overlooking the Americans for their versatility
Who cares about versatility if it means you're just okay in everything? Kilian is great on trails, basically any distance, few hours to 24 hours, so you can't say he is one dimensional. Max King had some decent races, but never won anything super competitive on the trails. Having a 13:56 5k and 29:01 10k PR doesn't make up for all those UTMB, Sierre Zinal and Hardrock victories.
Having said that, Kilian's claim of 29:42 for a 10k in trailing an hour after a world record level vertical K seems questionable after this race, even with some niggling injuries.
Maybe a sub-2:25 marathon... I was disappointed how quickly he falls off pace after an opening 2:48 km... he doesn't have the lactate endurance for high speed at this point.

Lies. Splits say he was in the lead at 1K in 2:44, and between 4-7K never left the top 4 places.

And Filip finished 6th in 29:03.
Shocked that the guy whose fanbois say is a 4:10 miler and a 2:05 marathoner with VO2 max of 700 and workout times of 29:30 didn't destroy everyone and Lasse Viren in this race.

This wasn't the case, according to norwegian press (NRK) he stopped because he was exhausted.
Gjert was very worried at the finish, asked Filip what happened to Jakob, but Filip had no idea. Then asked what happened to you Filip? :D
Jakob is probably sick or something, hopefully no coronavirus.
Yes, at about 36 minutes into the stream you can see him starting to walk: https://www.direktesport.no/event/ceb2dabf-65e5-44f0-9e95-f8b7c6c5b408
I love that Kilian beat Jacob, lol ?. Of course we know that this would be difficult to do again, but it's still funny seeing the Jacob fanboys squirm while still trying to downplay Kilian's race.
So, it's now Jacob's turn to run UTMB or Hard Rock against Kilian...who wins there? ?

Of course they have excuses, as usual. He treated it as a workout, he could be sick, etc., etc. Fortunately there doesn't seem to have been many/any Africans in this race, so they can't go the doping or they-lie-about-their-age route. A riot, still.

Kilian is a phenomenal athlete and I'd give my left arm to be half the runner he is but after flat out lying about summiting Everest, I just can't get excited about anything he does and I definitely question any claims he makes that seem out if the ordinary.

+1
Wake me up when he dominates a race with serious doping tests.
Are you truly incompetent enough to believe one of the most consistent athletes on the diamond league circuit that has run 7:27 and 13:02 in the past year, along with 27:54 on the road in the past year actually ran 30 plus as an all out race?
Should we euthanize you?
Is the 17 year old running 29:14 legit? Damn.
