Mile 1: 5:55 Deba starts pushing after mile mark, then Baysa takes over just before mile 2

Mile 2: 5:36 Baysa leading up front

After a slow first mile, Buzunesh Deba picked it up and now 2016 champ Atsede Baysa has taken over. Lead pack is about 15 women.

All hail the Chinese stream. Good quality and the commentators actually know their stuff (I understand Chinese).

Hey NBC- how about putting the clock on the screen with mileage and projections?

Yes, it's their feed. It's happening streaming and on TV. Specifically the women's race. But all those "human interest" stories worked just fine. BARRRFFFFF

My steam just went out. Black screen with NBC logo and a note that "Coverage Will Resume Shortly."

Not good on women's video coverage from the motorcycle. The fact it's still messing up makes me think it's something that won't be fixed anytime soon. Going to see mostly overhead shots?

17:45 at 5k, the lead pack is 14 women. That's not fast -- 2:29:47 pace -- and remember that the first 5k is downhill. My guess is that Linden won't let it stay this slow much longer.
