Nike/Rupp fanboys, what happened to Luke Puskedra? Further Proof Al Sal can't coach the marathon?

Ridiculous! First, you don't KNOW that he is tired from "pacing" Rupp. It is simply stupid to state it as though it's a fact. Secondly, NOP must be planning to close down when Mo/Rupp get to the end of their careers??... Since they "always" will focus on them?? Absurd!

What is wrong with you people? It's a freakin' marathon. When something goes wrong, it can be pretty drastic. It doesn't mean he's a lost cause. Puskedra is not the type to drop out. It was his first marathon and he wanted to finish no matter what. Give him a freakin' break.

Edna Kiplagat was only 13th in 2:36:24. Geoffrey Mutai was 6th in nearly 2:14. Bad races happen to the best of them.

Agree. And he finished. Works for me.

I think most of the criticism is with Alberto not Luke and it is justified. Alberto is horrible when it comes to the marathon.

Ridiculous. If you're an elite and you want/need to drop out, you go to an aid station and they call a van that comes and gets you and brings you to the finish.

I don't agree. Alberto has been fantastic in the 5k-10k. He is only horrible in the marathon and has been forever. But everyone forgets come the next marathon.

Do you realize that a DNF means a 50% reduction in your appearance fee? THAT IS A FACT. He (and Kara) finished because they couldn't afford not to. Nothing more. Alistair DNS and Salazar is an idiot to have Puskedra debut in NY.

I agree this says that Al Sal can't coach the marathon. He can coach 1500m-10000m and should stick with that. Ritz, Farah, and Puskedra have all run below potential considering their track times.

Because I'd like to know where this came from. Is this common knowledge? I thought the whole point of an appearance fee was to, you know, appear. Nothing to do with the results of the race, that should be separate, correct? Am I reading too literally here?
