I’m not sure I buy the WR hype but sub-3:28 attempt? Absolutely - it’s the Monaco of this season. Good timing wrt National Trials etc. Gourley definitely reminiscent of Hoares improvements last year.

I was wondering whether he's just cautious about crashing and burning, aerobically and then literally (into a barrier). It's a decent concern, and I wondered whether he's still a little held back because of it.

I'd buy that if this was only how he raced the steeple, but he races the 1500 and 5k the same way. I get that he likes to sit and kick, textbook George, blah blah, but there's times in the season where athletes just need to hit a qualifying standard. Sitting in 7th until the final lap doesn't seem the best way to do that

Yeah, I'm dubious about WR talk, but that's what they're saying right now. I think a lot will depend on how it goes in Rabat tomorrow. It is good to see that Jakob has agreed to a strong field in Oslo. I'm sure he could almost dictate the field for that meet and this opens the door to a possible hometown loss for him

Frankly 13:11 and 1:44 is a great combo. Statsgangsta gives it a 3:29 1500m

A natural miler, Beamish was in the wrong race again. He had a chance to get the 1500 standard in LA but was playing jumping games again.
