Forgive me if you are an ESL-person, but there is nothing in my post that suggests promotion of doping. In fact, I wrote that we haven't tapped the human potential yet because (implied) only a tiny fraction of people train seriously for the marathon.
From so many of the posts on here it’s almost like people think that if an athlete is doping it suddenly makes them super human. At it’s essence all EPO does is increase red blood cells making oxygen distribution and use more efficient, boosting endurance beyond what’s normal. Does it prevent an athlete from becoming injured or slow down the aging process? No. Kipchoge is an outlier in this way in so many respects. He has had a world class career that has spanned the good part of 2 decades, rarely if ever has had a serious injury and now in his late 30s has continued to improve on his marathon times. EPO does not have the ability to help an athlete continue to improve as they age. If an athlete has been doping for a long period of time you would still expect their performances to gradually decline as part of the normal aging process. For whatever reason Kipchoge has managed to continue to improve. I believe this is primarily the result of him perfecting his marathon race more and more which has had a net positive impact over any negative impact from aging. I do believe however that Kipchoge will probably not make much more of a dent in his world record. No matter how much of an outlier he is as an athlete Mother Nature will eventually catch up.
This is such a strawman argument, people know that doping doesn't turn you from a couch bum to a 2:01 marathoner. Your arguments don't make sense, doping absolutely can help prevent injuries.
the difference between Kipchoge and 99% people guilty of doping is that even if Kipchoge is one day proven to have used PEDs his achievements will still be mind boggling, at least to me. 1:59:40 is crazy with or without drugs. It would take away some of the magic but in the same vein; knowing the Beatles were high as hell doesn’t kill the magic the same way a 19yo on tik Tok making crappy computerized music high on mushrooms does.
Although Gatling winning worlds in 2017 for that age was impressive
Mostly follow the sport now just for fun and am not invested (or I guess less naive to the reality of doping, it happens unchecked in many other sports/aspects of human life outside running) but while I really hope Kipchoge is clean, I love watching him run and everything, shoes, all other skepticism cast on him aside he has forever changed what we understand the human body to be capable of and that’s positive for humanity even if it’s negative for the sport

Yes, doping promotion. You are falling in your duty of care to young athletes. I have been telling you this for years, but you just can't stop.
There is no superhuman metabolism. This is basic Biology. Do I have to spell it out to you any more explicitly? What does it take to get through to you people why you have a duty of care to young athletes and why you are failing them?
They only thing I kept thinking while reading the post was ... yea there are also many drugs originally designed for serious medical conditions that help with bones and muscles that can keep a healthy person super strong where originally intended to keep a sick human from was wasting away
actually, bekele on the whole as a runner impressed me more. just imagined what he cud have done in his prime with super shoes n lightning rabbits. he did his 2.01 marathon when he was kinda semi retired.
also, Samuel Wanjirus race in beijing is the most impressing marathon race i have witnessed, including kipchoges sub2 attempts. Pre wud have been so proud of that boy. that says all.
The fact that people think he isn't doping and do all sorts of mental gymnastics to come up with why makes me laugh.
What is it that makes sane people turn into bumbling fools where doping is concerned.
Let's break this down . .doping works, loads of quality marathon runners have been caught.....unless point 1 is bolix and doping doesn't actually work, which is bolix, then all the top marathon runners are doping. It's simple stuff people.

I strongly support this argument. EPO only improves endurance, not injury prevention or aging, and Kipchoge's longevity and success are likely due to skill improvement.
There is no scientific evidence to suggest that EPO has the ability to slow down or reverse the aging process in humans.
Please provide scientific evidence that EPO has a direct impact on injury prevention before making such claims. In fact, there isn't any such evidence that EPO, which we would all agree primarily boosts endurance by increasing red blood cells and oxygen distribution, directly affects the muscles or tissues that are prone to injury.

What is the "skill" in putting one foot in front of the other that he is improving?

Since you claim to speak with absolute authority that doping doesn't work, what has been your experience of it?
There were multiple doping threads on Gudaf Tsegay the other day that were deleted by the mods very quickly. Why is Gudaf Tsegay protected but this thread stays up?
