The twins(Koech and Bett) have the better genes/talent but Mucheru beats them in work ethics. A very hard working man. I am glad his hard work paid off with Olympic silver this year and the national record up from last year's 5th place at the world championships. I reckon it can go. You just need someone training for 400H who can go 44-low for 400. It's possible.

Junior/Youth 400H times are steadily coming down.

Of course it was and it still is now. All the talent is in the 800-1500 and the marathon, that's why you see no fast 5000m/10000m races. Yes there are plenty of marathon runners who could break 13:00 if they trained for it.

Gebrselassie and Kipchoge prove the track success can translate into the marathon, but honestly, the 5k and the marathon are different beast, so I don't think your explanation is entirely true, as we know from that crazy fast Paris race in 2012 that the runners of this generation can do, they just almost don't want to.

Hopefully we see something like the Paris steeplechase where they go faster than whats asked, but why that slow, I don't understand, I'm starting wonder if the pacers on the circuit just can't set fast paces anymore.

Race will go out at 12:55 pace. Jäger won't go with the leaders and instead try to pick people off as guys blow up in the last two laps. Perfect recipe to run 13:05.

Hopefully they will go 12:55, but that's not what the pace says

7:54 through 3K (13:10 pace, as mentioned above) is quite a moderate pace to ask for ... for that they might as well not have rabbits; the field could run that on their own.

Funnily enough the rabbit set for 3K has a 13:10 PR! So surely he is capable of quicker than 7:54.

The winner or even the first few could still squeak under 13 off of that ... Edris ran 12:59 in Shanghai off of 7:56.

Meanwhile 55.0 - 55.5 has been requested in the women's 800; looks like a WR attempt is on there.

Sometimes the pacers go faster than what is on the website, an example in that 3000mSC in Paris when the pace on the site was 3:01 but they went 2:55. Hopefully something like that happens(not WR pace though)
