I’m sure Hocker has his reasons for running the 3k but hopefully he regrets not being in that mile race.
But that 3k race where the 1500m Oly Champ stepped up to meet the Double Bronze Oly Medalist stepping down was one for the ages. I thought Hocker would win, but Fischer looked incredible, as well.
listened to Goose, Cole, Grant post race interview
each guy reflects the same attitude. no need to have someone else control the pace to run fast, no need to fear leading, no artificial mental barrier to give it your all. so they join the big balls Jacob club, which is the mentality of a champion, of which, is very rare.
in the interview, actually Grant and Hocker reflected my pre race analysis, with is orthodox, and were surprised how it unfolded, where it was an absolutely epic fight, with absolute epic results.
Goose I had for WR indoors and outdoors, outdoors is 50 / 50
Now Hocker with the base is in there.
These guys may be able to run 326 without Jacob.
Then you have Kessler. Kerr will be lucky to keep up.
And the youngsters, in two years, there stand to be eight guys that can go 327 or better.
Nothing like this has ever happened, and not even close.
They buy insurance against these things. They pay $3,000 or something to protect against hanging to pay $25,000– insurance company is on the hook
Really?? Do tell us more please.
Nothing to tell. That's how it's done. I saw it when I was a timer. It's like any other insurance...the insurance company takes the premiums and rarely has to pay out. Today's going to hurt whatever company was the insurer, though.
im not gonna get too crazy over nuguse and kessler's performances. they did something they've been capable of before, just at a different time of year. might mean they are ready to jump to a new level in the summer, might just mean they are closer to peak fitness for a longer period of time.
but hocker and fisher showed us something new. indoor/outdoor PRs by a long shot. this could be big for them. what a great way to start 2025.
