We begin our 2019 NCAA XC countdown by unveiling the first half of the LRC top 10.

Only #11 in the pre-season polls, the Huskies dominated at Wisconsin, putting all seven women in the top 50 and going 1-6 in the open race, and are now #2 in the land. Now it's on to Pac-12s, which features four teams ranked in the top 11 nationally. The UW staff has already scored the Pac-12 meet on paper; where do they have Washington finishing? Plus should NCAAs be hosted by UW as Chambers Bay golf course (site of the 2015 U.S. Open golf tournament)?

Boise State's Brenna Peloquin came into the year as the #2 runner on her team - now she's the NCAA favorite. #1 Providence certainly isn't the favorite any more as they are missing a few studs.

After 43 straight NCAA appearances, the Badgers were absent in 2015 but they should back in a big way in 2016.

Six of the 12 fastest men's teams in NCAA history will compete on Friday. Will they be good enough to hold off Stanford and Washington and their 3:53 anchor legs, Sean McGorty and Izaic Yorks? Will Oregon dare to run Edward Cheserek just 30 minutes after the 5k?

They beat Washington by .59-seconds as the top five teams went under 9:30. On the women's side, Michigan ran the third fastest time in the NCAA this year to win in 10:58.25 over Notre Dame (11:00.73).

There are lots of things to pay attention to as the calendar has turned to October. #1 New Mexico will run at the Notre Dame Invite on Friday against three other ranked teams while CU opens the season at the Rocky Mountain Shootout on Saturday. Friday's Washington Invitational (Stanford and Oregon are both in the field) and Saturday's Greater Louisville Classic (Wisconsin, Iona, Michigan, Ole Miss, Iowa St.) highlight the rest of the weekend's action. The two biggest races of NCAA cross-country's regular season - the adidas Wisconsin Invitational and the Pre-National Invitational - are in the books and they produced a ton of data for us to analyze. We make sense of it all and give you eight takeaways from the weekend's action.

Highlights: Adams State's Kevin Batt (7:52.15) won beat Colorado freshman Ben Saarel (7:52.15) and Trevor Dunbar (7:53.13) in the 3000, Laura Thweatt won in 9:01. Brooks Beasts' Katie Mackey won the mile in 4:34.99 over FSU's Colleen Quigley (4:35.38), Mac Fleet ran 3:58.25 to beat Penn State's Brannon Kidder (3:58.49), Edward Cheserek winning the 5K in 13:40 over Jared Ward (13:42) as the top 13 were sub-14 minutes, Elinor Kirk wins 5K (15:44).

High school junior and 16-year-old Alexa Efraimson came in 4th place in the 3,000m at the 2014 University of Washington Invitational, breaking Mary Cain's 9:02.10 record. We share a few quick thoughts on Efraimson's extremely impressive run and tell you where it stacks up compared to Cain's HS 2-mile record.

In the women's 5K first-year pro Betsy Saina gets the win in a World leading 15:28 over Alisha Williams, Alexi Pappas and Boise State's Emma Bates. Washington’s Megan Goethals was 7th.
