Osako should drop out. He's not looking good.

Osako looks as blown up as I usually do after three miles. And he's still got an hour to go.
Osako needs to drop out. He might hurt his career more than help himself at this point.
At the press conference, Sato said his target is 2:06:30

46 men minus 4 or 5 pacers are under 2:10 pace at the half
Here last year the 21st finisher was in 2.10.55

What is going on on the Olympic channel? They are 8 minutes back?
Japan, like everything else, does marathon broadcast better than Americans. Japan FTW.
Melese 7 seconds off the main group now in women. Yeshaneh/Aga/Tola/Demise/Hirpa/Kiplagat 1:22:51. Mao Ichiyama has dropped Joan Chelimo 1:23:31 to 1:23:57

Dicksom Chumba, Karoki and Birhanu Legese are the three Africans in the lead pack.
Legese dropped at 1:22:45. Down to Chumba and Karoki.
Haflway split for leading men was 1:02:02.
YOu can get splits here:
http://leaderboard.marathon.tokyo/Announcer incorrectly announces women have slowed significantly because of his inability to do math, when in fact they are maintaining 2:19:30-2:19:45 pace.

Does anyone remember when Joan Chelimo went into her half marathon through 10k at sub 1:03 pace and “blew up” to 1:05:03. What happened to her? I thought she would do something special.
Crazy after watching Chicago and Valencia to see Osako and El Abassi look so terrible at 25K.
Chumba falling off the lead pack at 29k
46 Men under 2:10:00 pace at Halfway. many will fall off, but hey they went for it.
Not sure. This has the makings of a tragic blow up or an amazing debut for Ichiyama, who has a 69:14 half PB. She predicted 2:21 at the press conference
Correction.
Chumba is now dropped big time.
Karoki and Legesee are both up there in lead pack.
Karoki reminds me of the great Yobes Ondineki in his form. Very compact and upright.
Osako dropped out. At 28k
Osako stopped running, but still walking.
Should run Boston for the lulz.
Lagese vs Karaoki for the last 12k
Legese could be making his move too early. Really seems to be pushing it. As Kipchoge says, a marathon is won in the last 10k.
Sato, Kariuki, and Tura are still together and will catch Chumba probably. Just 52 seconds back
