The gel is out of stock. Will this help with 10 mile and 1/2 marathon races?

10 miles no.
Half marathon probably a little.
Unless youˋre a 2hour half marathoner, your glycogen stores should be sufficient to provide you energy for those shorter distances.
No, but don't expect to run sub 60 minute HM's just because you buy this stuff.
I am shooting for 1:25. Worst will be 1:30. I was wondering if it will help to push in the last 2 miles. My legs lock up always. I don't know if it's glycogen, hydration or I am just not in shape to run the time and I am giving it back at the end.

Anyone ever try it? Have you ever been on Instagram?
I haven't tried it but i read up on it, and it looks like a basic, common, carb. beverage with a little pectin and another gelling agent extracted from brown seaweed - Sodium alginate - added in.
If i were going to do the longer events, i might trying adding those two things into my home concoction, but otherwise, i don't think they would have much effect for those of us doing HM and shorter.
Great laxative. If you want explosive diarrhea this product is for you.
No the magic potion won’t work. Train more, that will work.

I've used it exclusively for over a year. I've done long mountaineering/hike trips with it this year: Aconcagua, Elbrus, etc with it with spectacular results. It also doesn't freeze quite as easily as just plain water, so that's another huge plus. HIGHLY recommended.
Glycogen should last some 20 miles, regardless of pace, so you shouldn't need to fuel during the race. Probably something to do with your training.
So it was Maurtens?
I'll have to listen to the commentator more closely this weekend when
I re-watch it over a nice dinner of (filet mignon) beef stroganoff.
And sugar coated short-bread and red wine.
On the drink issue in the Berlin race. The timing has to be perfect and obviously
the drink bike guy were on cue.
I've used it the drink mix.
It works well.
Just follow the directions and drink within a few hours because it gels up.
Go to maurten's instagram page and you'll see all the athletes who use it. Kipchoge apparently took bottles of varying concentrations at every aid station and took a bottle and a gel at every other aid station. Apparently it added up to 100 grams of carbs per hour. Maurten loves to boast about athletes who use their product so none of this is any secret. If you look at any photo of kipchoge and the "Drinks Guy" you'll see the big maurten logo on his bottle. He was even throwing his empty bottles to the crowd and people who found one of his bottles, which were signed, got a prize from maurten.
I drank it and I'm still slow.

thefeed.com appears to still have the gels.
I didn't know they even had a gel until this thread. I just stocked up on ScienceInSport gels, or I might try some Maurten gels even though they're over $3 each.

You aren't in shape to run the time. Fueling isn't critical for a half marathon.

Is this what happened to Kipsang? He was walking cross legged to the loo at some marathon last year. Was he using this drink mix?
How's the average marathoner going to use drink mix anyways? It's only elites and sub-elites that get to place bottles.
you get this weird stomach is full feeling. maybe i drank to much.
I've been researching this so called sports mix.
Are you aware of the price?
Over $90.00 for 14 drink packages?
In their websites FAQ, the refer to the gel as if it were
some kind of magic potion?
Most of you guys and gals, aren't world class runners,
so there really isn't any magic potion. You're just
wasting money on glorified product. I would report
them to the Food and Drug Administration but I don't
want to piss off the ten percent of American sporters
that do use this product. So I won't.
Oh, why, oh why did they do away with "Gookinaid",
it worked well for me.
Just sayin'.
FDA would do nothing. No medical claims
