It’s really too bad that Saarel has struggled with health issues in college. His senior year in high school showed incredible potential. Only running around 70 miles per week. He ran 4:02 in the dream mile with a big last lap, in windy conditions, to beat some real studs. Had a similar big kick in his 3200 PR. Also ran a solo 8:4x 3200 at his state meet.
The point I’m trying to make, and tying it back to Fisher, is that 4-5 years ago many would have assumed that Saarel would go to CU, have a successful NCAA career and turn professional. Given his career, that’s looking unlikely. I would love to see Ben join the Saucony Freedom TC with Time Broe. How many opportunities will be there for Saarel when he graduates? Probably not many.
Everybody assumes that Fisher will go pro when he graduates but if he continues to struggle the next 2 or so years will he have the opportunity to sign a decent contract?
