And then again a bad review of one their shoes - dont remember which one as I havent bought a Nike shoes for some 20 years - ends up in the front page "On the Boards" for a couple of days.... A red-hot review with no more than 10 comments in it.. This right after the WADA report was leaked and you were accused of one-sided coverage of the issue....
Right.....
Many forget that without Nike dollars track and field, and to extent all running would not be where it is. Nike is the like Patriots, and Yankees they are viewed as the evil empire. That will never change.
AlSal has always pushed the envelope. Look back at his own training and racing. He has unlimited resources. Honestly he wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't. My bet he be scolded, but nothing major will be found.
It is my hope that all of the NOP athletes are clean. If they are dirty then they need to be busted.
On a side note I see changes coming to NOP. I see it splitting into two groups. Group 1: Longer distance 10k and up with AlSal running that show. Group 2: 3k and under with Papa Centrowitz running it.
This board is blatantly anti-Salazar, anti-Rupp, and anti-NOP.
The coverage and vitriol for a group who may have infused a perfectly legal substance too quickly (this is the major doping allegation which I see) is insane when you consider a) other American groups are likely doing some similar things when you consider who all has worked with Dr. Brown and b) other athletes are ACTUALLY USING real performance enhancing substances.
You say it's anti-corruption? Sure, but I don't believe you. It's anti-Salazar and you want him to be doing illegal things oh-so-badly.
I'm getting what you're saying wrote:
What seems to be equally as odd to me is the fact that most of the other top training groups (or at least BTC and Wetmore group) are potentially doing the same thing as the NOP, yet nobody cares. Not one single story about it. It just comes off as a complete witch hunt on Salazar.
This is one of the most shocking things to me. Three of the best American runners ever (Hall, Solinsky, and Goucher) were all going to Dr. Brown as well and nobody here seems to care about that.
I hope we get some good news before my package from NOP arrives next Tuesday.

There are some people who care a lot. Other people not so much.
In any case, yes, three of the best American runners ever (plus Rupp, plus Ritzenheim, plus Centro) were all seeing Dr. Brown.
What do you expect anybody to DO about that?
America. Where we spend more time and attention on locking up pot smokers and outing PED users than we do addressing real issues.
Anything NCAA is more QOD and newsworthy than the Salazar witch hunt. I'm sure the Brojos will continue their anti-Nike sentiment for the next 7 years until, for some reason, we get the federal government involved in SPORTS to try and "take down" some track runners. Christ almighty.
LetsRun is one of the best reporting mediums in sports journalism. The fact that it sits in the top running websites on the internet, surrounded by adverjournalist sites like RunnersWorld, means it is host to many rebuttals by groups that are the subject of the sites inquisitiveness and commentary on ongoing investigations by professional agencies or other news outlets. It's natural that the site that draws a readership with high integrity standards in our sport, will be also the place where many important people in the sport visit. And it follows that the aggrieved parties will come to this space to air grievances of sunlight being shed on their operations. It's unfortunate that they go after the inquisitiveness and integrity that LetsRun treats the sport, when they know that is the exact reason the site has grown such a large following.
If you feel aggrieved, feel free to defend yourself with an explanation of your own actions, on the boards or elsewhere, and LetsRun will continue to give the greater running community valuable context and analysis to your statements.
If you feel you don't need to defend yourself, that is fine as well: LetsRun will continue to provide analysis and context to its readership of all investigations that are being done against you by the sport's top doping agency.
Cheers.
Thanks for the nice post.
As someone pointed out, my brother is probably known for being the biggest Paula R defender out there. And yet we somehow hate Nike?
I'll tell you a Salazar story. When I started coaching at Cornell in 2002, the star freshman 800 recruit who had been coached by Salazar in HS very quickly told me, "Hey Salazar hates you guys." I remember being both shocked and pleased byt his. I mean it clearly showed the site had gone big very quickly.
This was back in 2002 when we barelyi did any reporting at all. He clearly didn't like the fact that there was no a place for people to talk about doping at Athletics West. BUt there was no reason to hate me. I didn't invent the Internet. The private conversations that track geeks had always had were finally finding a wider audience.

I do not buy into the notion that 90-95% of the athletes are cheating. That's ludicrous. But YES I do want all of the cheaters out.
On a podium in Track and Field? Yes, 90-95%.
The IAAF hasn't made a peep about Salazar's uncontrolled human experimentation. That should tell you exactly how much the IAAF is interested in enforcing its own rules.

How many more days will NOP trolls keep polluting this thread?
Salazar was running uncontrolled experiments on humans. Seems legit.

+100
Agreed. And look at the long list of runners not with nop who used the services of Dr. Brown, quite extensive.
Doesn't look like NOP is going to be Salad-bar or Rupp-certified anymore.
For those bashing on the instant updates and saying Letsrun is anti Salazar or Nike realize this. This is a running website where the founders live out of America and the majority of visitors are Americans. The website focuses on distance running.
What other prominent American coach who coaches several Olympic and World Champ medalists including the greatest track distance runner in the world, the Olympic 1500m champ, and the best American long distance runner is under investigation for doping. It's kind of a big story and obviously its going to get front page coverage.
And for those in the elite running community its not like allegations against Salazar are anything new. Ask many of the elites from Salazar's era what they think about him and doping. Salazar defenders will not like the answers. And right now there are a lot of people who have a lot to lose coming out against the NOP. If it was just one person you'd be reasonable to give them benefit of the doubt. But where there is this much smoke there a freaking wildfire.
When Nike stops doing stuff like this, then it'll give this site a reason to stop. When trust is broken, it takes a long time to build back up:

Well then why don't you tell Nike and Salazar to scuttle their unlicensed medical lab for starters. Then there will be no "bias" against them.
This. When you have a group of athletes who, as we speak, have needles stuck in their arms and a drip bag is infusing L-carnitine into their veins, it's impossible to think this is kosher, When the coach and sponsor has been doing this for decades, backed up by testimony from former athletes, it's impossible to think that this is kosher. When the coach, was involved in one of the biggest busts in our sports history (Mary Slaney) it's impossible to think this is kosher.
If Nike/Salazar wants to have a better reputation perhaps the time to start is to do and act like other coaching groups first.
If a girl sleeps with a different guy every week, she should expect to have a reputation of being a slut.
So your tired of people saying that cheating is wrong!!!!
That makes you stupid!

Definitely don't hate Nike. I wish they'd do a lot more on the anti-doping front.
I currently run and am wearing as I type Nike Pegasus shoes. Great shoes.
I think I even posted a link in the last month for people to buy them from our partner as they're on sale. $87.88 with Free shipping.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
