Probably several thousand at the London or Boston Marathons. Most decent recreational runners can get under 4 hours. It's only like 9:00/mile pace.
Monaco 1998.

It looks like this (17):
3:56.86 Robert Kibet KEN 15.12.65 17 Berlin 26.08.1997
I'm guessing he's asking because he wants to set up a race to beat it.
The record is a little over 16 seconds: 3:43.13 by El G.
Craig Wheeler ran a 3:24 downhill mile back in 1993. That's over 35 seconds under 4. Has anyone ever gotten more under 4 than that? I'm thinking that's probably the most sub 4 in one race ever.

I must have not been clear in the OP, but I think Merber was wondering what's the most amount of PEOPLE to go sub 4. 10, 15, 20?

This, and the correct answer was already posted.
really? I could've sworn I saw this guy named lightning or something run under 10 seconds in the olympics. That's 3 minutes and 50 seconds sub 4, if my ti35 worked correctly

I have not checked into all the Kenyan U16 School Boy Championships but so far 17 seems to be the most ever.
I'm pretty sure the African race has the record for most sub 4's, but I don't know the exact number. The other races aren't even close.
The record is 17, as has already been stated.
Does Millennial spokesperson even know how to work his internet machine? It's for more than catching Geoduck, you know.
