Help me decide which is the better model:
400m best x 1.2 + 1500m best x 0.216
or
400m best x 1.2 + 1500m best x 0.215

I've run 62.5ish and 5:25 for 1600 (I was in 5:20 shape, so I used 5 flat for adjustment), and I got 2:20 and 2:19.5. My current PR is technically 2:27, but that was early season in an event that I consider myself terrible at. My teamate who I trained with every step of every day split 2:19 in a 4x8 relay in our last meet, and I'm sure I could have matched that or been close.
I personally would choose the 1500x0.216 to be more representative of my racing.
If you have any other prediction models for other distances I would love to hear them.
How do you place the decimals on this when adding cause I keep getting weird numbers
400m is 57, 800m best is 2:06, 1500m is 4:34
Predictor came out as 2:07.3 so I'd say it's pretty awesome predictor man!!

OK an example, remember to do everything in seconds.
Taking 4:10 and 55s
(55 x 1.2) + (250 x 0.216) = 120s or 2 minutes
49.3, 1:49.27, 3:49.82
Predicted 1:48.26 so it's a pretty close predictor.
53.5- 2:06.0- 4:45
(~)(~)205.5
The predicted time was slower than my PR by 1.9 seconds. So for me, whatever makes the calculated time faster would be better. I'm a slow-twitch guy.

I just calculated your times using 0.216 and I got 1:48.8

What are your PBs?
I don't really get the point of this. I mean, I guess it is sort of interesting? But who has raced a 400 and a 1500 but doesn't already know what they can run in an 800?

Well like you said it is interesting. Also the formula can be rearranged to predict any of the marks based on the other two.
I think following this feedback on this board the best formula is:
800m = 1.2 x 400m + 0.216 x 1500m
Cheers guys!
My 1600 pr is 4:19.81 which converts to around 4:00 for 1500 and my 400 is 50.1, .216 gave me a 1:51.96 and .215 gave me a 1:51.72, considering I have only run 1:55.1 I guess I shouldnt use either of these haha

4:19.8 converts to 4:02. Along with 50.1 using 0.216 I get 1:52.4.
Even without the formula you should be able to run a lot faster in the 800m! 50 and 4:20 show good speed and endurance.
If the 400m is a relay split then that may make more sense.

52.4, 1:55, 4:03
Works pretty well for me!
50.8, 1:52.23, 3:58.0
The calculation gives me 1:52.1 or 1:52.3. Looks good to me.
I tried the first one and it was almost spot on for me:
400m best-used 57.4 as conversion from 58 440y (on cinders) as time trial in hs
1500-4:20
calculated 2:05 and pr in college (I ran a couple 800s when I couldn't train except in the pool because of tendonitis)-2:05.8.
At the time my 1500 pr was 4:22.8, however.
Really great 800m predictor. Best I've ever seen, and I've tried a good amount. Using all my indoor times from this year, Mile PR converted to 1500 is 4:14.7, 400 PR is 53.1, 800 is 1:58.3. Your predictor guessed 1:58.4 (using .215). Incredibly accurate.
