I'm not speaking about Prosperity Gospel. These are the problems of believing that an all-knowing, all-powerful god is involved in our daily lives. Did God bless this couple that had a healthy child? Did God choose to not bless the other couple whose child was born with microcephaly and will never develop into a thinking person?
There's a long list of questions you can't get answers to from a book that was written thousands of years ago by men who had no concept of the modern age. If a fully fledged, unique person is created at every joining of sperm and egg, then what happens with the more than 50% of zygotes that never implant in the uterus? Are millions of people dying and going to heaven without ever existing in this world as more than a handful of cells?
God heals the sick and it's a miracle when a good person, faced with death, survives by the grace of God. But then it's also ok if that person dies, because now they're with God (even though it's impossible to be away from God because God is at all places at all times). If you're having a great life, thank God for your great life. If you're having a miserable existence, just hang in there, because God will be there for you, and even if it isn't in this life, he'll be there with you after you die. Why he makes the brief time in this mortal existence more comfortable for some versus others is unknowable, even when seemingly good people suffer greatly and unjustly, and other wicked people prosper just as unjustly. It doesn't make sense, but then because God is so beyond what we could imagine, we can't begin to guess the reasoning behind why he does this or doesn't do that. So then why credit anything to God? If you can't understand why Tim Tebow has his life while a sex slave in Nigeria has hers, then how can you say that God intervenes in this world at all? If you can't wrap your head around it, shouldn't we follow Occam's Razor and conclude that God hasn't chosen to either bless Tim Tebow or not bless the Nigerian sex slave and that God isn't involved in either of their lives and that one person was born into a favor fortunate circumstances and the other was born into truly horrific circumstances.
