Well, I dragged myself out of bed after my sister's wedding last night. Just posting comments from last week now. Will post my week if I survive my run this morning, haha.
kaizn - Great week of training. You are well on your way to handling 70mpw with quality weeks like that one. And way to get it in with the family visiting. That was my battle this week, as you will see later.
sdp - Very, very nice. Love the sound of the enthusiasm in your voice as well.
Niceguy542007 - Looks like you are handling the recovery phase of the marathon prep well. Good luck building and jumping back into it.
Matthias - I like your little tempo/hill/tempo session. That looks like a page out of Forcerunner's playbook. And well done on the first 10k specific session. Very consistent running.
pewow - You are also building nicely. So far so good with your well-designed, thought-out plan you posted several weeks ago.
Hereford - Dude, I wanna start hanging out with you on Sundays. :) Your running weeks are looking better and better.
Slo-twitch - Man, you just keep pumping out workout after workout. Glad to see you handled the 5x1600m much better this go round (I think you were running 5:35-:38s last time?). Definitely fit and ready to go. Enjoy the countdown to the big day.
Forcerunner - A hard effort on a hilly course 3 weeks out is perfect. My best marathon came off a hard, hilly half 4 weeks out where I ran between MP and HMP for most of the race. You'll be shocked to see what a difference the taper will make when you get to about 5 days before your race. The switch flips and bam, you'll be itching for those legs to do some serious running. Couple weeks to go!
UpN0rth - Congrats on the 8k PR off yet another very steady week of training.
IllinoisRunner - Another good race showing, but you are right, I think you are capable of faster. I think the two hard workouts earlier in the week played a role. The good news is, I would expect your fitness to take a jump from that stimulus, so I am hoping to hear that you had a much better race yesterday. Keep up the great work. Impressive running for a freshman.
ThatAverageRunner - Hope you feel better. Sometimes catching a cold can be a blessing in disguise as it forces you to take it easy and allows other aches and niggles (like your calf) to get better.
NUFCrichard - Welcome aboard! What is the 10k PR you are chasing?
Oedipus Rexing - Good week, indeed. Strong tempo running. You seem to have adapted well to the new running schedule, I know sometimes that can be tricky.
Nop200 - Congrats on the 5k PR! I agree that a couple more cracks and you'll be on the south side of 17:00. Jealous about the apple pie. I would definitely race for food. :)
TheGarbageDisposal - I think we have all been to a pity party before. It happens. Would love to see you posting regularly again, but if you are still pumping out the crazy mileage I suppose that would cut down on the time you have to post. Either way, keep fighting and keep dreaming big. Yours is the best success story I have yet to come across on LRC. :)
TannerD22 - I agree, that is probably the best overall week I remember seeing from you, well done. Superb performance on the 3mi race. I find that actually racing the competition, not chasing a time, brings the best out of me.
Running again - Another solid week, even if the first half was easy. I find that 13-14 milers pay huge dividends on 5k-10k races. Should bode well for your upcoming 4 miler.
OklahomaGuy - I am sure it is mostly flat where you live, so to improve hill running ability, maybe you can try things like running stadium steps (or “bleachersâ€), parking garages, or overpasses. I tend to be the opposite of you in that I like hillier courses - I see them as opportunities instead of challenges. :) And to answer your question, I am not sure which long run you were referring to (last week or two weeks ago?). My longest planned single run will probably be 22 miles, but I do have another special block planned where I will hit 25-26mi for the day.
oh please - Welcome aboard! I hope you continue posting so we can see yet another success story. Best of luck on the comeback.
