Personally, I think this was Mottram's best race. 8:03 is a superb time, he outkicked Tariku, AND he looked relaxed. What more is there? Seriously though, no doubt he could have run 8:02 or 8:01, possibly 8:00, but probably not 7:58. He did talk about the record in the post race interview though... This is honestly the last exciting race I can remember of Mottram, which is unfortunate. I enjoyed his brash personality and racing style, and kudos to him to getting pissed off at the flotrack guys when they just walked up to him and started asking him questions after he lost to Webb and Lagat just weeks before this race and then instructed them on how to conduct themselves after this 8:03. Was pretty funny to watch.
