Seriously. I love the NFL but people that do this make me laugh.

Do you suggest they wear them on non-gamedays?
I fully agree with you - Lots of people love their NFL team so lots dress up. Very few love HP in the same way so far fewer dress up.
You confess to loving the league itself rather than a specific team so this explains why you don't have a desire to dress up.
Whilst trying to insult NFL fans all you have actually done is highlight what they already know and openly admit to - they love their team more than HP fans love HP!

Nice name.
No way, dude. I look super tough walking around with another man's name scrawled across my back.
Wearing your favorite player's or team's jersey is the same as dressing up as a fictional character?
Not real smart are ya?
I get lots of compliments on my Ron Mexico NFL jersey.

Not trying to insult all NFL fans. Just the ones who dress up.
At least Harry Potter fans do it at midnight where nobody but other fanatics see them.

No, it is same. They're both just entertainment. Very different type of entertainment, but they are just that. Some people just get so emotionally into that entertainment, but not even be in that business to make a living. But at end of the day, if you love it, then f the haters.

This is the best sentiment. People spend far too much energy criticizing or mocking activities or hobbies that other people enjoy. If putting on a jersey of a favorite team or player, or dressing up as a favorite Harry Potter character enhances a person's enjoyment of a particular activity, then by all means that person should do so. Who is anyone else to judge?

Planning to wear a jersey on game day? Be sure to should tape your ankles, apply eye black, and wear a jock strap too.
There are two types of people who wear sports jerseys on game day.
Die hard fans (losers) or posers (women).
It's a lot of fun to get together and drink beer and watch a big game, which I do quite often. But I'm amazed how emotional and attached people get to their teams when it really has very little impact in their lives.
I also find it hilarious, and a bit annoying, when women get all dressed up in their jersey outfit, and are super excited about the game, but really don't know much about their "favorite" team or the sport in general.
You wear jerseys on gameday to show camraderie and to fit in with the crowd. It feels good to root for things together, no matter how meaningless it is to you personally. I'm don't own a jersey but i was pretty unhappy that the eagles lost because i enjoyed the atmosphere and beer/food on gamedays. I can still only name about 7 players. A movie doesn't have the same energy as a football game and it isn't exactly socially acceptable from men and women as a football jersey. I would dress up for the lebowski fest tho. A simple rule is if a hot girls accept it then its fine.
WE'RE going to smoke you guys!
WE have the best defense in the league!
OUR passing attack will tear you up!
no way that team can hang with US!
oh NFL guy, getting self-esteem & chestiness from his team, so delusional...even funnier when NFL guy is fat & out-of-shape.
I'll be rockin' my jersey on Sunday since my team is playing! "Nike Elite" jersey, straight bootleg from China. $45 with shipping! I got it because it's my team and because one of the players has the same last name is me. It's fun to wear when watching the game amongst friends, and I brag that it's bootleg. Not sure I'll wear it out and about, even if it was the ridiculously overpriced $300 version, simply because I'm a man in my 30s.
Say what you will about people wearing jerseys, but our sport has a lot to learn from it. If USATF and IAAF had their shit together, we'd see better marketing and be able to get singlets of our favorite athletes. I'll admit, it might be weird to see folks rockin' singlets around town, but you get the idea. I was Usain Bolt for Halloween in 2009 and made my own jersey using iron-ons. Can't buy that in the store!

Having a "favorite player" = gay.
Grow up, punk. You sound like an idiot.
Wearing a team jersey is not like going all out dressing up as a Harry Potter character. Now if someone was wearing a helmet and pads, I would consider that the same.

You try to insult someone by calling them gay, then you tell them to grow up? Oh, the irony!
