The Peace Race course has gone through many renditions. In 1986, the course started at the top of the hill leading up to YSU's outdoor track. The first mile was downhill, with the same hill being run up at the finish. It is a multi-tierd hill, that was close to a mile long. There is no comparison between the current course and the 1986 course. The first time a point to point course was used, was in 1989. The race has been point to point since. The original 10k and 25k courses were essentially loop courses. This was a world class race until 1993. The list of legends who have run here is a who's who of distance running history. Bill Rodgers, Frank Shorter, Lasse Viren, Liz McColgan, Pat Porter,DeCastella, Ken Martin, Dick Beardsley, Eammon Coghlan, Randy Thomas etc. It remains a good local-regional race.
