A post on another thread got me thinking, is it possible we, as runners, share some predominant commonalities that are characteristic only in runners personalities (or maybe a select few other individual sports)? Is there a general runner’s personality or a ‘runner type of person’? Obviously runners need to be self disciplined and self motivated, to a certain degree those traits are a given. But what about introverted? Compulsive? Are runners generally more a Type A Personality-competitive, driven, ambitious, but also anxious and impatient, and excessively time conscious? Or do we need to have Type B personality traits in order to be good athletes (patient, relaxed in spite of an arousing situation)? Similarly, if we do share any negative traits does that make runners prone to specific psychological disorders, such as anorexia or anxiety disorders? Would like to hear others thoughts on this...

GUYS TO ASSIMILATE WITH (ie. not the rarity of a 145 lb. man)
And sorry but most of the skinny 145 lb. runner guys I know are successful only in terms of running...most are introverted, non-social, loner-type geeks who can only talk about running and splits and not much else. Plus, the majority are not successful financially either.
NASCAR guys are rich and fit the profile of a "regular American male".
