The area around syracuse university campus is not all ghetto, actaully come to think of it very little can be even considered close to "ghetto areas". the team does runs in and around fayetteville, manlius, trail run on the local indiana reservations and trails in and around a local limestone quarry. for longer runs and workouts during cross country the team will bus to green lakes, highland forest, onondga park and the erie canal.
I'm guessing he is meeting with the Auburn guys, because there is a real small contingency of our guys at SU right now. I'm not going up till Monday
met with the AU team this morning. guess hes out. rumors are true, and he is heading to SU. he does not have any assistance. wonder if he will keep the staff such as the throws coach...
due to privacy rules here i can't name names but if you look at last years team cross results and i am sure you can figure out the top five and if you make the assumption that you ar go9ing to reward the top then numbers 3, 4, and 5 are the ones robert's screwed
Fox was great runner, great guy...it gets damn cold in Syracuse though...snowy and windy.
As far as a place to train, it's not as bad as New Haven,
but definitely not Boulder. Every campus is a magnet for some form of crime or another. SU is not blessed with
refined campus edges or a thriving urban environment as context. There are fantastic places to train within a short
drive from campus. Kevin Collins still trains in this area
every day. He'd be a great resource.
If the Chris Fox story holds true, that's very exciting.
I think he has friends in upstate NY. He also knows some of the talent that has come out of the region. Having competed with John Tuttle while at Auburn. (I think Tuttle still lives in Georgia or something.) Scott Bagley is
also someone from CNY who was at Auburn during the Fox era.
Intersting coincidence.
I'm curious to see how he'll weather the area. I hope he doesn't use it as a stepping stone. Be great to see him there and really build. I have a hunch that he'll go after
the local distance talent pretty hard. That has always been the formula for SU's potential.
The winters are tough...not as cold as MN or MI, but very
white.
Having trained with and under Chris' guidance for many years, believe me when I say his training philosophy and knowledge of the sport are top notch! Syracuse got a great coach and person!
snowy yes, windy not too bad.
First thing he will have to do is get a strong sprints coach, seen as his $ is tied up there for now. He needs a strong staff he can trust, i heard all the assiatants were the reason Andy left in the first place. Mike Cunningham from Miss. State left, he would be a good fit, It would be great if they could bring in Judge for throws; talk about kick starting a program.
SU is getting one hell of a coach and an even better guy. It is a sad day on the Plains.

Judge is a monster throws coach. Do you think he would go to SU? Mike Cunningham is a pretty good coach but why did he leave- b/c MSU sucks and is loosing all there athletes?
So now the question is...
Who takes the Auburn job?
Another question: How many Auburn runners will now transfer to SU?

How bout his daughter?
Why no post yet. I have spoken with people on the team and nobody knows. I heard he has to bring in a whole new staff, everyone is gone
Where did Coach Boronzinski and Cheree go? Did Chris Fox let them go? I doubt that he has done so already if he plans to at all.
The assistant coaches are gone I presume. They all had to re-apply for their jobs. Most left because it was a less than 25% chance they would be re-hired. During the summer I would guess they found safer jobs than their old ones they would most likely not be re-hired to, judging the new head coach would bring in his own staff.
As for blaming the assistant coaches for Roberts, that is entirely unfair and very untrue. Jay Hartshorn was a very motivated and dedicated coach. It was because of the actions and mis-management of Andy Roberts that caused a lot of good people to lose their jobs. The assistants had enough courage to point out to the AD that the actions of Roberts would only continue to bring down the status of SU track and XC, and their inability to build a balanced and strong team with him at the helm. And bravo to them for their gravatas.
