I worked in a hospital and can testify that this is the truth! I was just a rough guess I would say 90% of medical procedures are either unnecessary or harmful
And it's not that the doctors are bad people it's just that they're totally driven to see things according to their specialty and what they know and they're driven towards action in a lot of circumstances where there is nothing you can do but make things worse
About 400,000 people die every year from medical malpractice
And tens of millions of people are taking harmful prescription drugs which are completely unnecessary
Coronavirus and nature in general seems to be showing that prescription drugs which provide easy answers are actually making people more vulnerable to this disease. Kind of like a get-rich-quick philosophy in medicine or thinking there's a magickal answer to systemic problems like poor diet and nutrition and not enough exercise

We are the best. Who else could get Trump, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Europe, South Africa, South America, The Vatican, Iceland, and the Bahamas to all cook their books on the same stuff?
Guys let me jump in here. This is a viral infection which is going to run its course. The New York Times is reporting that it's airborne. And most studies are showing that large percentages of the population have already been exposed
This is just a case where people's desire and need to do something is resulting in a lot of totally unnecessary action
Yes mild precautions are a good thing we shouldn't be congregating in movie theaters and Arenas and inside venues. But we also should be allowing access to healthy things like parks and beaches and making sure that we have a healthy economy
A good example is when you see people wearing masks outside in an environment where they have plenty of space. It's just totally inane Behavior

so what's your explanation for the startling rise in deaths in NY since March ?
CDC changed their reporting standards to "looks like corona to me!" or "corona was around"
As someone else mentioned there's more and more evidence that it's airborne and easily transmissible and lingers in the air sort of like smoke
You ever walk into a smoky room you can smell it there. The virus is the same
New York City has Subway systems which are ripe for high transmission. Combined with an older population and a lot of sick and vulnerable people. So basically in New York was right for a quick Spike of the vulnerable people getting hit hard. in other places hopefully we will have better treatment and maybe the environment won't create such conditions for as much of a spread and the warm weather will help and Immunity will be built up progressively

Your first and last paragraph seem very contradictory...

And based on the last month, we'll reach 72k by May 10 if not sooner. I'm far from a rocket scientist (or, more importantly, a epidemiologist), but it's pretty obvious that this is going to kill far more than 72k by August.
To those that continue to compare COVID to the flu... you can't be serious, are you?! When was the last time the flu killed 55k or so in a month? Probably the Spanish Flu.

ok let me spell it out real slow like.
The total number of deaths in NY from all causes skyrocketed since March.
Significantly more people died in NY this year in March and April than normally do.
What's your explanation for that?
If Corona deaths were mostly just normal deaths of people that would have died anyway, we would not have seen an increase in total deaths....same number of people die, just the reasons listed changes.
But thats not the case. The total number of deaths skyrocketed.
How do you explain that?

so still some dummies out there. You really think this ends at 70k? thats like 5-6 days away at the current rate.
the vast majority most of those 60k were in the last month......were talking about equaling the worst flu season in most of our lifetimes....happening in a matter of weeks. Anyone still pretending this is like the flu at this point is either a troll or too dumb for their opinion to matter. 'Fact resistant' as i like to say

FWIW, my understanding is that the IHME model is not designed to predict total deaths, only peak deaths. It's use for these purposes is heavily criticized in the statistics/epidemiology community because the future predictions are constrained to drop unrealistically quickly (and results have borne this out). Something like this might be better:

As those dying does not fit your "being young and arrogant" preferable human, I must admit (as you never will), you are high on yourself and low on compassion.
You should switch your handle to "anti-dumb"

Bro your attitude is like naive religious thought. It might make you feel warm and fuzzy but it's totally unrealistic. Unfortunately we live in a world where bad things happen. Yeah it would be awesome if we could make it so that everyone has everything they ever wanted but we have to make the best of what we can in the real world. Unfortunately bad things happen. You realize that the Cure could be way worse than the disease.
Like for example we have to prioritize where we put our Medical resources. So we obviously put a lot more money into diseases that kill Millions then into diseases that kill a few hundred.....
The fact is that healthy people and especially healthy young people should go about being productive citizens and keep trying to create a healthy economy. So we all have food and resources. I'm not saying that all lives don't matter I'm just saying that young healthy people have an incredibly low chance of being impacted by this personally so they should try to be productive so that we all can eat....

No he's just making the point that we shouldn't have young healthy people afraid to go out and work and contribute to society because of some totally irrational fears
Just like we don't make cars illegal because tens of thousands of people die every year. We shouldn't stop young people from working just because some people are vulnerable to this disease. Encourage the vulnerable people to isolate and will do everything to help them but meanwhile we need to make sure we have enough food and resources
That this is a super deadly disease for the young.
Really not a threat to this under 30. Kids should be out playing with one another. Thankfully that is being allowed in Switzerland.
Old and those with pre existing conditions and especially nursing homes (maybe up to 50% of deaths) look out. Rest of us take precautions like Japan but carry on with lives.
I’ve heard from more than one person that the economy will “go back to normal” when the restrictions lift, because all the people on unemployment will “just go back to their jobs.”
As if all these companies simply put their jobs on hold for them while they hemorrhaged money for 8+ weeks and won’t need to cut payroll costs to compensate
I just popped in to say I will enjoy watching you cultists melt down VERY MUCH.
The writing's on the wall, just look around at how many people are wearing masks compared to two weeks ago. The mob is dwindling fast and your OUTTA FRIENDS bub! Normal people are taking over and you mentally disturbed disaster-porn freaks are out. So sorry.

Remember folks....next time you see a climate change denier skoffing at science.......science usually wins.
Lolz people who can think for themselves are the worst! I bet you didn't know that what you consider "science" on climate change was actually controlled by the UN's IPCC who by their own bylaws are only allowed to study HUMAN effects on climate change. Maurice Strong actually personally made sure of it, but I bet you don't even know who he was! Hows that for science? Its absolute garbage propaganda.
Are humans helping warm the earth? Probably. Significantly? maybe. Are we all gonna die in 10 years? no some of us will survive CoVid and some of us just might even survive the lessening warming trend that has helped humans expand population wise and technology wise...until the interglacial period we are in takes back over and most of the world freezes and starves. You're welcome! #science Full disclosure, I have a masters degree in this field and expanded my research outside of the IPCC's web.

Dude it's Airborne but almost completely indoors. It gets dispersed quickly outside and does very little transmission outside even without masks when you're in close contact with people
That's why I even clarified by saying if the person is alone in the middle of a field. Basically if you're alone outside you have zero chance of getting it. If you're outside around people but at a distance of more than 10 feet you almost have zero chance
If you're outside in close contact you have much less chance than inside but probably a minimal chance. If you're inside you have a much greater chance
Some Studies have shown that it is 2,000 to three thousand times more transmissible indoors than Outdoors
