Governor Cuomo yesterday. NY health and hospital authorities today. Up to date enough for you? Or do you need an academic study?

I am thinking more ad more about this.
This virus only kills and have serious consequences for people who are old or/and have bad pre existing conditions such as diabete, cardiovascular diseases, and high blood pressures. These conditions typically exists for old people or people who have morbid obesity.
So why locking down people who will barely feel the disease? Just to avoid locking down just the old and sick and give and protect their feelings?
No, you haven't been thinking about this.
In NY over 50% of those requiring IC for coronavirus are aged between 20-50. That could be you.
Dear Armstronglivs, you will soon be banned for insulting people on a daily basis.
Cheers.

The virus is bad enough to put young people in intensive care. Even if theyre likelihood of surviving is quite high.
However, there is not an infinite supply of intensive care beds.
What you have is a lack of imagination. The situation now is manageable but thr seeds of an unmanageable situation have already been sown. Give it two weeks and sadly you will see the error in your thinking
Yes, and even a non-death threatening infection can permanently prevent a young person from competitive running.

And no one insults anyone on Letsrun. Is daily too much? How about weekly or fortnightly?

Sorry if I'm missing something, but I don't see where the article states that half of patients requiring intensive care for COVID-19 are between 20-50. I see the figure for percentage of positive tests, but a positive test and an ICU admission are two very different things.

Don't worry. That's because you're not a dumb ass fearmonger like the person who posted the link.
Baba Yoga,
Where have you gone? You cannot cite an article, the one you cited does not say anything about the President of France asking everyone to go back to work. That is a lie.
The restrictions in France are growing. In fact Germany is taking patients from across the French border. The restrictions in Germany keep growing as well. Dis-in-for-ma-tion
Baba Yoga,
UK, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, the Low Countries - they have all increased restrictions and are struggling worse than France.
Monaco, I believe the Crown Prince himself is positive?
Check the news, my ignorant troll fellow-poster.
We're locking everybody down to make politicians feel powerful and rationalizing it on the grounds that it's necessary to protect old people.
Thanks, I just needed a source to help validate the reliability of the information. Here's what I mean.
I just heard this. Gov Cuomo is speaking live right now on Fox News. He just said 53% of hospitalizations right now in New York were in the 18-49 cohort.
Slightly off topic... it's sad when the governor of a state does a better job of informing the public than the entire Center for Disease Control.

No, regular 'academic studies/publications' generally take too long, although several COVID-related peer reviewed studies are being fast-tracked for immediate release. The CDC publishes the MMWR with up-to-date numbers that are as accurate as possible in this fluid situation.
The point is though, we can't rely on anecdotal, random bits of information to make decisions, whether the source is a doctor, politician or news organization; unless they are relaying vetted numbers from reputable health organizations like the CDC. If the NY health authority has compiled numbers on COVID age-related hospitalizations, I would certainly believe them. Do you have a link to them?

Politicians are generally very old. It could just be self-preservation at this point.
You really need to know what % of the infections/population is under 65. The other part that is left off is what percentage of the people under 65 who get hospitalized have lung damage before hand? Something like 15% of the population smokes tobacco. 12% smoke weed. 20% of people 19-29 vape. Do those groups end up vastly overrepresented (i.e. they have the lungs of 70 year olds not 35 year olds) in the ICU? Then throw in the rest of the pre existing conditions like asthma, immunocompromised people,...
Right not the isolate everyone approach seems best but when we start coming out, we probably want to do it over a period of time and it might be nice to know who is unlikely (not 0% but say .001%) to die.

The "dumb ass fearmonger" was the Governor of NY. But I guess you aren't really following events.

For what sane reason do you believe politicians on any subject?

That may be because of who is directing the CDC.

For the reason that the alternative is people like you, Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and 8-Chan.
