I posited earlier that we already have disproportionate older demographic under strain of pensions etc. As well as disproportionately high number of people with lifestyle diseases , obesity-diabetes-renal-CAD-liver etc, that are already a burden and strain on health services. Everyone wants 'small govt' until they need that support.
So we have rapidly extended lifespans due to advances in medicine and 'caring for everyone'..even if they didn't bother to care for themselves.
Don't throw everyone in the same bracket , I am 62 and still chasing another sub 3. I made a conscious decision in my late teens when I ran my first marathon, that I "do not want to look and be like that"...and by 'that' I was looking at the people in 60's or even 50's that told you how great they were, but looked like the fat ,walking dead.
I saw Carlos Lopes showing the 'youngsters' (37 was old for me then) how to do it.
In the future after we have destroyed the economy, then we will have saved more of these people, yet have less money to keep them alive, more middle aged will even suicide more than they already do.
What can we do about it. Just be positive.
So, restaurants, bars etc are closed here because the younger set on the other hand don't want to distance.
Lets make it a plan to order at least one take away a week from the restaurants we used to frequent. I work for a massive (US) company. We will survive, will my job survive- hopefully. But I will be lobbying leadership to put a second takeaway on the company card - for all of us who travel interstate every two weeks and no longer spend that travel bill.
We have all got to keep the wheels turning
